Shin Dragon Ball Z (真ドラゴンボールZ, Shin Doragonboru Zetto) is a fighting video game based on the Dragon Ball series. The game is the first Dragon Ball game to be released for the Eighth Generation of Video Game Consoles, and was distributed by Namco Bandai (Japan) and Microsoft (North America and Europe) exclusively for the Xbox One game console on September 39th, 2014 in Japan, October 4th, 2014 in North America, and October 17th in Europe. The game was developed by Studio 41, their first Dragon Ball Z game since Masters of Battle 2 for the original Xbox.

The game was first revealed in V-Jump's final issue of 2013. The announcement officially stated there was a new Dragon Ball game in development for the Xbox One, and would be developed by Studio 41, creators of the Masters of Battle and Blazing series for the original Xbox. On January 13th, 2014, an official full page spread was released, showing off several early gameplay clips and concept art. It was announced the game would have similar gampely mechanics to the Masters of Battle series, and would feature a much larger roster, as well as several modes new to the Dragon Ball franchise. It was also announced to be exclusive to the Xbox One.
