Ryuu is son of Piccolo, and creator of Silver Star Dragon Balls.
Before his death, Piccolo send Ryuu's egg to New Planet Namek, where he born as Warrior type Namek, and start to training with Moori, and start to create Silver Star Dragon Balls, to wish his father back to life. Years later he return to Earth, where he join to Z-fighters, and he gets his Dragon Balls ready, and then he wish Piccolo back to life, and start to training with him. He became good friend with Pan, Tekka and Dennish, and later mentor of Kotarota.

Like his father, Ryuu is usually grumpy and preferring solitude to the company of others, but Ryuu have more sense of humor, and he is a little more naive. But at first, he was quite independent, and his only goal was to get his father back, even though he didn't know him. He also don't want to show his feelings, and therefore he usually don't cry. Like other Namekians, Ryuu don't ever eat, but drink only water.

As he's son of Piccolo, Ryuu has almost same power as his father.
As a kid he was strong enough to battle with Pan. After training with Gohan, he was able to fight with Kuriza, and his power-level was nearly 6,000,000, and it was rivaly with Tekka
When he grows, he was training really hard, and after he fused with Sota, student of Wukong, he became nearly strong as his father, but not strong enough to defeat Evil Eden.
When Kotarota birth, Ryuu continues training, and after he fused with Android 76, android Namekian, he was able to battle with Android 22's perfect form.

Flight: The ability to fly with the use of ki.
Ki-Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
Masenko: A quick blast fired with one open hand directly in front of the other.
Chasing bullet: A homing beam attack of considerable power.
Eye laser: A thin laser-like beam is shot from both eyes.
Hyper Explosive Demon: An attack in which Ryuu creates a large blast which emanates from him in all directions.
Special Bean Cannon: Ryuu's most powerful, but time-consuming, attack, which drills through nearly everything and every being.
Thoughts reading: Dende give that skill to Ryuu. With this ability, Ryuu is able to read others thoughts.
Great Namek: Ryuu grows more larger than his size, increasing his strength greatly.
Mystik Attack: The Namekin skill to stretch one's limbs.
Regenation: Ryuu is able to bring back his truncated limbs.
