The Red Ribbon Army Remnant was a group of surviving Red Ribbon Army officers and soldiers who remained loyal to their faction after it was destroyed by Goku. Led by Dr. Gero, the organization sought vengeance upon the Saiyan for what he had done. In the months following the collapse of the Red Ribbon Army, Gero came into contact with General Copper, General Bronze, and General Lavender and their remaining legions. They joined his side during the early years of this faction's existence.
History[]
This faction formed immediately after the fall of the Red Ribbon Army in Age 750. Dr. Gero first created Android 9, and then used that android to try to find surviving Red Ribbon Army officers and their legions around the world. He found General Copper, and his legion, General Bronze, and his legion, and General Lavender, and his legion. Lavender required some convincing to join (Android 9 would have killed him had he refused). Gero also started his Cell project at this time.
Afterwards, in Age 752, Android 9 and the Lavender Legion scoured the Earth for Goku, but found no trace of him. They eventually ran into Earth's Military and got into a bloody conflict, resulting in Android 9 being captured (thus forcing Gero to remote-detonate him) and much of the Lavender Legion being killed. Lavender and the survivors retreated back to Gero's lab in the mountains of North City.
By Age 754, Gero had finished his work on Android 10. He had intended to make Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 at the same time, but 10 was completed a while before the other two were. Android 10 was assigned to the Lavender Legion and was sent around the world in search of Goku. He bonded with Lavender quite a bit, and after returning from one such recon mission, Lavender, Android 10, and the Lavender Legion attempted to overthrow Gero and take over the Red Ribbon Army Remnant themselves. Gero frantically released the nearly-completed Androids 11 and 12. 12 easily defeated 10 in a duel, while 11 murdered General Lavender and destroyed what remained of his legion.
Android 11 was added to the Bronze Legion, while Android 12 was added to the Copper Legion. Over the next two years, they made names for themselves by wiping out numerous gangs, petty armies, and rivals of the Red Ribbon Army. Android 12 was able to kill the leader of the Sons of Piccolo, causing that gang to break up.
In Age 756, Android 12 was deployed to the southern islands to look for Goku. Android 11 was sent to Central City to perform a bank heist (as Gero needed lots of funding to continue his android projects). The heist was unsuccessful, as Earth's Military soon showed up. A massive battle ensued in which every member of the Bronze Legion, including General Bronze himself, was killed. Android 11, while stronger than the humans, was becoming overwhelmed by their numbers and had to flee to Android 12's location. Arriving there, he helped her wipe out the last of the Red Dragon Brotherhood, who had ambushed the Copper Legion mere hours before. Soon, Earth's Military showed up and another bloody firefight took place. All of Copper's men were killed or captured; he was captured too. Androids 11 and 12, however, were holding their own until they were paralyzed by an EMP blast that rendered them unresponsive. Gero attempted to remote detonate them, but he never learned if they had been destroyed or captured (in reality, they had not blown up from his remote's command).
In the coming days, Dr. Gero finished Android 13 with the last of his supplies. He ordered 13 to bring him supplies so that he could create more androids. 13 obeyed, but he did so unwillingly. While gathering supplies in North City, Android 13 was harassed by two young children - Lapis and Lazuli. Gero, seeing an opportunity to use the brats as his first test subjects for android-ification, ordered 13 to abduct them, which he begrudgingly did.
On December 2, Age 756, Cardinal hired Hasky to break General Copper out of prison in South City and to recover Android 11 and Android 12 from Earth's Military. With the help of Supreme General Silver and Proprananik, she was able to do so. The general and the androids (who were deactivated) were returned to Cardinal in Bonetown on December 3rd. During their meeting, the possibility of Lieutenant Colonel Teal having survived the same battle Copper had (which had otherwise killed all of his remaining legion) was brought up. Cardinal began looking into that. Some hours later, Proprananik and Hasky were sent to Jingle Village to make sure Dr. Flappe wasn't involved in the Red Ribbon Army anymore, while Silver and Copper worked to set up a line of communication with Dr. Gero so that the New Red Ribbon Army and the Red Ribbon Army Remnant could form an alliance. Later that night, Proprananik confirmed that Flappe was not in contact with Gero and was able to steal the blueprints to Androids 1-8, which were returned to Cardinal.
On December 5th, Copper was able to get in contact with Gero. The details of their meeting was finalized on December 7th. The next day, Copper, Silver, and Proprananik met Gero in the wilds outside of North City. There, in a capsule-stored room provided by Gero, they began negotiating the terms of an alliance. After some compromises, the two sides agreed to a 50-50 partnership between Cardinal and Gero, with Cardinal running the administrative aspect of the army and Gero running the androids division. Copper and Silver would lead the armies. Everything was about to be finalized when Gero mentioned that Android 13 had recently captured Lapis and Lazuli. He was going to begin experimenting on the two to turn them into androids. Once he was successful, he would strive towards turning all members of the New Red Ribbon Army into androids as well. And after they took over the world, his goal was to android-ize the entirety of humankind.
Copper and Silver were appalled by that plan and refused to participate. Shocked at their betrayal, Gero declared that they would be executed for failing to remain loyal to the Red Ribbon Army. He fled the room. Seconds later, turrets sprung out of the walls, killing Copper, Proprananik, and severely wounding Silver. Silver managed to escape and get a call off to his father, who was able to rescue him before he succumbed to his wounds. Some days later, back in Bonetown, Cardinal promised his son that they would get revenge on Gero for what he did, but only after they found a way to reactivate Androids 11 and 12.
Later, when Gero tried to send 13 out to get more supplies, he refused. When the doctor threatened to deactivate him, the android hit him into a wall. Gero's guards stepped in to stop the android, but he killed them all (these were the last Red Ribbon Army Remnant soldiers left, and with their deaths, only the doctor and his androids remained in this faction). However, that gave Gero enough time to grab his remote again and deactivate Android 13.
Shortly after that, Gero completed Android 14. She was a supremely disloyal beast. He had to routinely disable her with his remote in order to work on her defective AI. Eventually, in Age 760, he gave up on her, vowing to continue working on her in the future when his capabilities improved. She was placed in a storage pod in the back of his base (when his base was later destroyed by Future Trunks and Krillin in Age 767, Android 14 was incinerated in the explosion) and progress on her was halted for the time being.
In Age 762, Gero completed his work on Android 15, and, twelve days later, Android 16. After making sure that they were fully operational, he sent them to South City. He intended on having them destroy the city in order to make Goku come to them. After arriving in the city, 15 began killing civilians, but 16 did not join her. He told her that killing people was wrong, prompting her to shoot a ki blast at him. He dodged it, but it hit a tree and killed a family of birds. This enraged 16. He attacked her and swiftly dominated her before vaporizing her with an energy attack. 16 was recalled to Gero's laboratory afterwards and put in a storage pod while Gero decided to shift his focus onto Lapis and Lazuli.
By Age 765, Androids 17 and 18 were completed. When Android 17 was released, he immediately went to a nearby town and blew it up. Gero overrode his android with his remote and flew him back to the lab, putting him back in his storage pod until he finished Android 18 shortly afterwards. He let them out together, and again they broke out of the lab. 17 wanted to go around killing people, while 18 wanted to murder Gero. This led to Gero having to put them back into their storage pods while continuing to work on their loyalty matrices. Soon after, Gero's tracking device returned with blood samples from Goku and his friends, and the device told him what Goku's address was. He programmed this information into Androids 16, 17, and 18.
A year later in Age 766, Gero completed Android 19, the first energy-absorption-type android. Android 19 proved to be extremely powerful and loyal. However, Gero was concerned that he would lose against Goku and his gang if all of them teamed up on 19 at once, prompting Gero to decide to make himself into Android 20. In March of Age 767, he completed his transformation into Android 20, leaving his old, dying body behind, which would allow him to continue his goal of android-izing the entire world, complete his Cell project, and continue perfecting Androids 14, 16, 17, and 18, as well as working on his newest androids - 21, 22, and 23.
Gero set out to South City on May 12, Age 767. 19 was destroyed by Vegeta, while 20 was murdered by Android 17 after he tried to let 17 and 18 free to protect himself from the Z Fighters. 17 and 18 let 16 free and then pursued Goku, due to their programming, but they were no longer loyal to Gero. 14 was destroyed by Future Trunks and Krillin when they blew up Gero's laboratory. With her death, the Red Ribbon Army remnant ceased to exist. 11 and 12 came into the possession of Cardinal after he broke General Copper out of prison in December of Age 756, though they were in lockdown and he was unable to bring them back online, no matter how many scientists he hired to help him. In July of Age 767, Bulma visited Gero's destroyed lab and found the incomplete Androids 21, 22, and 23. She took 21 and 22 with her back to her lab to run some tests. She wanted to change their AI and then activate them so that they could join the Z Fighters.
