Nir (ニル, Niru) is a hybrid who is 75% Saiyan and 25% Arcosian. He is the son of Yuki and Ledas. His existence was made possible by using Rikyu's Dragon Balls. He is a major character in the latter sagas of Dragon Ball: Heart of the Dragon.

Overview

Appearance

While Nir looks mostly Saiyan-like, including possessing a brown furry tail, several areas of his body are covered in Arcosian bio-armor, such as on his shins, forearms, and torso. All of these areas disappeared after he went through puberty except for the bio-armor on his forearms. This is also the only part of his bio-armor that has jewels (teal in color). There are Arcosian facial stripes below each eye.

Nir's hair is the standard black of Saiyans. His eyes are indigo. Nir's skin is unusually pale, which is due to his Arcosian genes. His ears are slightly pointed and warped due to cartilage deficiency. His nose takes more from his mother's side. Nir prefers to wear Earth clothes (and his Mrovian armor set when sparring), though when he is in the Planet Trade Organization world, he usually wears the old-style battle armor. Nir's aura is electric indigo.

Personality

Nir is a meek boy, neither assertive nor aggressive, but neither is he particularly cowardly. He is less inclined towards martial arts than Chari or Olivien or his parents. That is not to say he doesn't enjoy fighting, but he is more pridefully reserved than his fully-Saiyan siblings. Being an introvert, his pride is expressed primarily through anxiety and narcissism. While he considers himself moral, his beliefs do not entirely align with human standards. Nir has a deep-rooted shame over his hybrid status, of not being fully Saiyan or Arcosian. He shields this through an over-expression of pride, which is perhaps an expression of his mother's genes, and can do so to a fault. He enjoys cold, muggy days, especially the smell of a big city after a rainstorm.

Nir was educated on Earth (via private tutors) and in his mother's empire (by several advisors, officers, and tutors). He has a mathematics affinity, and he appears to be the only member of his family who very much likes to sing (Nir is a choirboy through and through). As a warrior, he takes a more defensive, pragmatic approach, relying upon split-second reactions and a healthy use of ki attacks to counter his opponents—an uncommon style for a Saiyan. He can be hesitant to press the advantage against his foes, indicating he has an inferiority complex. Although he can fly, Nir has a moderate fear of heights, preferring to remain as close to the ground as possible when sparring or moving.

Trivia

• *The Chal 'Mgan (above) is a type of deep-sea squid that lives deep in the oceans of Planet Nitro 001. It is about 50 feet long, translucent, and covered in barb-wire-like skin. Because it lives so deep in the oceans, it is rarely seen or consumed by air-breathing species. Being Yuki's favorite food, it is unsurprising her son developed a keen taste for it too.
• Nir has existed (in a now-canceled story called The Last Saiyan) since 2012, several years before Heart of the Dragon was conceived, although the version of the character from that time was a Saiyan/Human hybrid. Thus, Nir was the first of Ledas' children to be created.
• Nir is named after a Skirmisher Kig-Yar in my Halo universe fanon.
• Ledas chose Nir's name because of the story Korin told him in Not So Far.
• Nir is featured in the Raging Blast: DLC, although this is based on his TLS version.
