The Night Snakes were a gang of bandits operating out of the Diablo Desert since their formation in Age 714. They were a successful group and soon became the largest bandit gang in the badlands. They constantly warred with other bandit groups, notably Wolfe's Wings. In Age 747, they declared war against Wolfe's Wings, resulting in a bloody battle that wiped them out utterly, leaving not a single survivor.
History[]
In Age 747, during the events of Chasing Oblivion, while on a banditing mission, Sallow Saul and his detachment of Wolfe's Wings accidentally shot down a plane carrying several high-ranking members of the Night Snakes. One of those killed in the plane crash was Jorack, who was one of the Snakes' leaders and the owner of the Azure Dragon Sword. This act outraged the Night Snakes, causing them to declare war against Wolfe's Wings. They quickly set up an alliance between all other gangs in the Diablo Desert against the Wings. The One-eyed Jackalopes and Warthogs in particular allied with the Night Snakes. Wolfe personally wiped out both of those gangs for their treachery (as shooting down the plane had been an accident, the Night Snakes' response of war had been uncalled for in his opinion).
Over time, the Night Snakes built up their forces, preparing to strike against the Wings at just the right time. After one of them stole poison from Thoras in Wolfe's hideout, Wolfe moved several of his most trusted bandits to another hideout, for he was paranoid that someone was trying to poison him. Doc, being a double-agent, informed the Night Snakes of this new hideout's location, prompting an assassin to attack Wolfe there some time later. Assuming that Wolfe had been killed by the assassin, the full force of the Night Snakes then descended upon the hideout, intent on wiping out his elite bandits in a surprise attack.
Wolfe had killed the assassin, however, and rallied his elite bandits into defending themselves by meeting the Night Snakes head on in their hovercars. He also called up his remaining bandits at the other hideout to hit the Night Snakes from behind. As they had been on alert already, they quickly reached the scene of the battle, surprising and routing the Night Snakes. While the Night Snakes had been able to take out many of Wolfe's Wings, they were ultimately killed to the last man in that battle, though Wolfe never learned of Doc's betrayal.
