Majin Beerus

Majin Beerus

"So hard to find good opponents to fight, SO HARD TO FIND GOOD FOES!! But now... I MAKE YOU INTO CHOCOLATE, SUPER SAIYAN!!!"

- Majin Beerus threatening Goku before the final confrontation.

Majin Beerus (マジン・ビエルス Majin bierusu) is the true form of The God of Destruction himself, in which, is secretly the same race as Buu. He tricked Whis into being his angel, and fooled Champa into being his twin brother. He even attempted to destroy Earth, and kill Goku in the process.

Appearance:

Beerus is a pink anthropomorphic cat-Majin with golden yellow eyes and large pointed ears. He is modeled after the 14-year-old cat currently living with Akira Toriyama, Debo, a Cornish Rex. In spite of developing a serious illness, and the vet declaring it didn’t have long to live, it miraculously got better on its own, and the vet said it might be some kind of demon. His form is hairless and while overall defined in built, he is very thin and bony. He is of a similar height to Goku, being slightly shorter, but his ears making him appear taller. He dons black, blue, and gold Egyptian-looking attire with the same white and orange diamond decorations as his mentor Whis.

Personality:

Beerus is powerful, yet lazy and playful (like most cats). His similarities to cat-like behavior also display in his love for long sleep sessions and how he grooms himself. Beerus is always in a bad mood when he wakes up from his deep slumber, but becomes less grumpy the more awake he is. Similar to many cats, he likes to display dominance, and will claim whatever he desires to have without much consideration for how it will affect others. He is also a gourmet, and his planet is stocked with fish and other sorts of food. While he is a fearsome god, his cat-like gestures and his variety of facial expressions separate him from the more malevolent antagonists in the series. He has a very indifferent behavior toward death, being the God of Destruction, and cares little to none about death and the billions, possibly trillions of lives he has taken over the years he has been the God of Destruction. He often uses the threat of destroying Earth as a means to get what he wants or as a simple warning to Whis and the other Z fighters.

However, Beerus is hotheaded and somewhat selfish and can become easily angered over trivial matters, such as being beaten in a game of Hide-and-Seek, being served greasy food, or being denied pudding. He is also confident in his superior power, not without cause, as he proved to be the strongest opponent ever fought by the Z Fighters at the time.

In Dragon Ball Super, Beerus is seen to be more malicious than he was in the movie, not to mention more comical. He is also comically argumentative and abusive towards his servants. When Oracle Fish forgot the name of Beerus' ultimate adversary, he suggests to Whis to cut his feedings from "three times a day to two times a day". Beerus never likes it when he does not get the respect he deserves as a god. In the Universe 6 Saga, Beerus jokes about "destroying a world using the Super Dragon Balls," but has a sinister smirk when talking about it, which has Bulma suspicious and seeks to find the Super Dragon Balls before him. He is also demanding of Vegeta, treating him as his servant boy. Along with this, he never cares about the lives of the other fighters of Universe 7, and would consider his fighters as "pawns" in the tournament and barely praises Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo's work in the tournament, as exclaiming they did alright, but that changed where he praised Yamcha for winning baseball match. His cheering and enthusiastic attitude is seen even more in the Tournament of Power, cheering on any of the fighters who knock an opponent out of the ring, especially weaker fighters. When he observed Master Roshi fight with 3 Universe 4 fighters, he was cheering him on and keep calling him "Old Man", until Krillin told him his name, and after Roshi is revived by Goku, he ask Krillin what his name is and when Roshi eliminated himself Beerus called him Master, clearly showing respect for Roshi and his very intelligent fighting style and common sense, despite their power difference. He warmly praises Gohan for defeating Dyspo, even though he himself was taken out of the ring. He also respectfully addresses Gohan by name, rather than referring to him as "Goku's son".

Despite his extreme power and role as God of Destruction, Beerus is surprisingly well-mannered, respectful, and polite, and can be quite sociable and friendly when in a good mood; he uses exclusively polite pronouns, from the gentle-polite-masculine boku to refer to himself (much like Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Babidi in the series) instead of the coarse-masculine ore (every other main adult-male in the series), and kimi (affectionately-polite form of "My Good Sir/Good Madame") to refer to everyone. Since becoming acquainted with Goku and his friends, Beerus' attitude has lightened somewhat, becoming even more comical than before. While still arrogant and indifferent, he has become noticeably more tempered, which leads to comical antics. Whereas before he would destroy planets and all its inhabitants for even the slightest disrespect, he has begun showing considerable restraint despite the various outbursts from the Earthlings' antics, this is because of Zeno becoming Goku's friend, and likewise, the advent of the Tournament of Power. Likewise, the Earthlings have become more casual and relatively calm in his presence, something Beerus seemingly has no problem with, when angry, rather than showing off his aura and attack, he comically yells, demands and nags at them, specifically Goku, partially due to his friendship with Zeno.

He appears to have a very high view of his power, as he always claims that his power completely outclasses that of Goku, Vegeta, and others; however, he does eagerly await for an individual to rival his power. While Beerus dislike evil beings, he has no problem with using them, as shown by his relationship with Frieza whom Beerus allowed to maintain a vast galactic empire and even act as Beerus' agent of destruction. He also recruited the Saiyans lead by King Vegeta to obtain the universe's most comfortable pillow, though King Vegeta's stinginess caused him to try and trick Beerus by giving him the second most comfortable pillow, but Beerus realized the truth and punished King Vegeta for it, while sparing Planet Vegeta for the time being. King Vegeta's behavior and the Saiyans evil nature however caused Beerus to tell Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta, thus Beerus himself was partially responsible for the Genocide of the Saiyans, though Frieza ultimately destroyed the Saiyans for his own reasons. Beerus himself however only tolerated Frieza's existence due to his power and his willingness to work for Beerus out of fear. Beerus also told Frieza that he would not interfere with his revenge. However, after Frieza destroys the Earth, Beerus allows Whis to use his Temporal Do-Over to give Goku a second chance to finish Frieza off and save the Earth, though this was mainly due to the fact he preferred Goku, Vegeta, and the Z Fighters over the return of Frieza and his evil empire, as well as his love of Earth food, though he did mention his dislike of actually helping restored a planet, though Bulma was quick to thank him by inviting him to a celebratory feast. While Beerus joked about using the Super Dragon Balls to destroy Universe 7 which Bulma took seriously, he ironically had Whis use the Super Dragon Balls to restore Universe 6's Earth, effectively giving his brother an Earth of his own, though had Whis keep quiet about the nature of his wish to maintain his reputation so as to not appear soft. Additionally, he ends up saving Goku from having his body stolen by Zamasu by killing the rogue Shinjin, though Goku Black's Time Ring prevented him from being erased. In the anime, Beerus had Whis travel to the past in Trunks' timeline to warn his counterpart Future Beerus of the threat posed by Zamasu and of the events that lead to Future Shin's death which caused Future Beerus to die due to their life link, creating a new future timeline where Future Shin and Future Beerus are still alive and the events that lead to multiverse's being erased to not occur, giving Future Mai and Future Trunks a timeline to live in after their timeline was destroyed, thus Beerus has technically revived or prevented the Earth's destruction three times, once in the main timeline, once in Universe 6, and once in the alternate future timeline, showing that he can at times can be a benevolent deity. In the manga however, he allows Future Trunks and Future Mai to travel back in time using the Time Machine to prevent Future Shin's death in order to save Future Beerus as well as inform Future Shin of the threat posed by the Zamases and their Zero Mortals Plan, all with Present Beerus' blessing and approval, as it would save his future counterpart.

Due to his power and position, he is somewhat fearless, as there are very few who can match his power, let alone capable of killing him in combat. Beerus is not hesitant to kill other lifeforms, even his rival, Goku, as he threatened to destroy Goku if he got involved with Zeno. However, he is shown to be terrified of Zeno, in a manner very similar to how the Kais and other gods are scared of Beerus himself. Due to his life link to Shin, the only active Supreme Kai of Universe 7, Beerus has a strong desire to prevent his death, as it would cause Beerus himself to die as well. Although he is the God of Destruction and has destroyed several things, he also was demonstrated to have limits as to the kind of destruction he would condone, as he was shown to be very angry at Goku for his role in the two Zeno's Tournament of Power during the Universe Survival Saga, which will result in the losing universes being erased from existence, and also held enough disgust with Zamasu's Zero Mortals Plan that he immediately erased the present-day Zamasu when the latter was exposed.

His relationship with Shin is shown to be strained as he's usually rude and condescending towards him, not particularly caring what he does as long as he's alive nor does he care for his input. After the Great Priest announced the stipulation for the Tournament of Power, he angrily told Shin that he was too hands-off with his approach and blamed him for their universe's low mortal level. Due to his sealing Old Kai in the Z Sword after getting into a trivial argument with him during a meeting on the Sacred World of the Kais, the elder Kaioshin holds a grudge against Beerus, though in Xenoverse 2 Beerus calms down after learning that it was Elder Kai who bumped into him, showing that he is willing to act civil despite their history however after hearing Elder Kai mutter to himself in a angered tone revealing he still held a grudge against Beerus for sealing him, he tests Beerus' patience enough for Beerus to consider destroying him (it should be noted Beerus originate from a altered timeline and Elder Kai presumably originated from Age 852 and was assisting Chronoa at the time so his death likely would not effect Beerus in any case) though fortunately Whis was able to pacify the situation with food. Unlike Elder Kai, Beerus has no problem using the Dragon Balls which again shows there contrasting personalities. However it should be noted that by sealing Old Kai in the Z Sword he may have inadvertently saved the wise Kaioshin from perishing or being absorbed during Kid Buu's rampage, allowing the Elder Kai to assist the Z Fighters and Shin during the Majin Buu conflict, during which time Beerus was asleep and unable to assist Shin in dealing with the powerful Majin.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, after faking to be controlled by Demigra's Dark Magic due to being as a god, Beerus noted he would enjoy destroying Demigra because he "seems like an evil guy", and also out of revenge, considering Demigra's attempt to control him "a blasphemous action that deserved punishment". Beerus also enjoys fighting strong opponents, as he looks forward to Goku, Vegeta and the Future Warrior becoming stronger. He also encourages the Future Warrior to see if they have a skill that can defeat him.

But in the final episode of DragonBall Super, "Beerus Reveals His True Intentions", Beerus and Goku fight once more, until Goku Kamehameha's Beerus, but he blocks it. Goku throws a punch in Beerus' gut so powerfully, that it went right through his purple body. But Beerus didn't bleed or die, Beerus just smiles menacingly at Goku. Goku pulls his fist out to reveal pink substance coming from Beerus' body. Beerus reveals himself as, "Majin Beerus", his true form. Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of the Z Fighters were in a loss of words, including Whis. Majin Beerus and Goku are ready to fight, so they fly into the clouds. Majin Beerus requests Goku to show him the full power of a Super Saiyan God. Majin Beerus understands that Goku hasn't fully adjusted to the power, which makes Majin Beerus not want to move when Goku attacked. Majin Beerus wants Goku to use more of his power so which Goku charges a Kamehameha. Majin Beerus easily vanishes away from Goku's technique, though the attack did impress Majin Beerus. After being suggested by Goku to actually fight, Majin Beerus tells him that no one in the universe is stronger than him. Majin Beerus easily blocks Goku's moves and begins to punch Goku too, and Goku has to retreat to rethink his strategy. Majin Beerus catches up due to having more speed, and after Goku tried to punch Majin Beerus, he counters and punches him back, sending Goku into the ocean. Goku rushes back to attack, but Majin Beerus continues to move at an intense speed to get hits on Goku making his arm burn. They both want to continue the fight, but higher in the atmosphere. As Goku gradually adjusts to the new level of power, he is able to dodge Majin Beerus's attacks. After being hit by Goku, Majin Beerus launches a sphere ball, but it was deflected. Majin Beerus continues to block Goku's attacks, but one scratches Majin Beerus's face and Goku jokingly flicks and chops Majin Beerus to get even. Majin Beerus is tired of playing around and wants to begin a serious battle between gods. Majin Beerus creating an energy sphere

Majin Beerus and Goku charge at each other and Majin Beerus gets knocked into the clouds. However, this does not faze Majin Beerus, and he returns the favor to Goku. Majin Beerus and Goku throw several attacks at each other. Goku notices that Majin Beerus is using much of his power. While Goku was speaking to him, Majin Beerus is finished talking and attacks him. This leads them landing on an island. Majin Beerus is tired of fighting Goku and sends him off into space. Majin Beerus impaling Goku in the abdomen. Majin Beerus claims has a technique that could destroy the Earth if Goku isn't careful. Majin Beerus launches an attack toward Earth, similar to an atom, but it gets blown up by Goku. Majin Beerus creates more of these and fires them away. They all get blown up, however, by a Kamehameha. Majin Beerus seems to think that Goku isn't one who he was looking for, while punching his hand through his abdomen. Majin Beerus's moves sends Goku falling toward the Earth, into the ocean. Goku comes back and tells Majin Beerus that Super Saiyan God hasn't reached its limits yet, and he has more power to show. Majin Beerus claims that he has more power too. As they see Bulma and co. in the ship, Majin Beerus and Goku decide to go higher in Earth's atmosphere. As they were rising, Majin Beerus gets behind Goku to redo the chop to the neck trick he did previous, but Goku catches his hand before he could do so. Majin Beerus and Goku begin to raise their ki and charge at each other like comets; their attacks colliding cause waves to flow throughout the universe. Majin Beerus and Goku do this two times and are asked by Kibito Kai to cease because they could destroy the universe, but they continue anyway.

On the third strike, Goku hits Majin Beerus with the same amount of force at the same angle, which doesn't cause destruction upon the universe. At another attempt, Goku still does the same to not destroy the universe. They start throwing punches and kicks at each other. Majin Beerus then fires Goku an atomic like energy move, which Goku counters with a Kamehameha. After moments of the collision struggle, a beam of light occurs throughout the universe. The beam the two created made a ki ball. Majin Beerus is able to hold his own in the collision, which causes disasters on Earth and rifts in the universe. This collision eventually explodes afterwards. Majin Beerus claims that he nullified the energy and used up 100% of his power to do so. He then gets furious that he could possibly lose the fight and exerting his power. Majin Beerus and Goku get close to each other to touch fists. Majin Beerus quickly attacks Goku after he does so. Goku also gets some blows in, but eventually is not able to keep up due to his time limit in Super Saiyan God and reverted into Super Saiyan.

Majin Beerus is dodging Goku's attacks until he gets hit. Majin Beerus is wondering why he was able to hit him and figures out that Goku is able to because he absorbed Super Saiyan God's power into his own. They both continue their brawl and make their way back to Earth. Majin Beerus becomes disappointed in Goku because he expected more. Majin Beerus clones himself and fires an atomic bomb at Goku. He thinks he won, but Goku charges at him and they both go back to space. Majin Beerus tells Goku tell he regrets being obsessed with the prophecy of the Super Saiyan God. Majin Beerus has decided to beat Goku with the way they started, a flick to the forehead. However Goku ruined Majin Beerus's "cool ending" by returning to continue fighting. While Goku is in the process of charging a Kamehameha, Majin Beerus is charging an atomic bomb as they both fire it at each other. The collision of the two attacks creates a Sphere of Destruction. Goku is struggling to push back the sphere, so he decides to blow up the energy sphere by punching it. However Goku runs out of power in doing so, so he falls down to Earth and Majin Beerus follows. Majin Beerus is ready to destroy the Earth, but in the process, Goku maneuvers at the last minute, blasting into the ground creating a blinding blanket of dust. Majin Beerus is unable to detect energy without physically seeing it, so one makes its way to cut Majin Beerus in half.

Other ◾Para Para Boogie - Unused voice lines in Xenoverse 2 indicate that Majin Beerus can use the Para Para Boogie.

Origin:

Though Shin says that Bibidi made him, in truth Majin Beerus actually has existed since time immemorial. He cycled between rampages and long hibernation. During numerous iterations of this cycle, he absorbed the evil elements of mankind, becoming steadily more violent. The evil wizard Bibidi merely knew the means of calling Majin Beerus from out of his long slumber.

Roughly five million years before the actual story of Dragon Ball takes place, Majin Beerus was summoned by Bibidi. This monster was a virtually invincible force of destruction, and, because of his absolutely wild and ruthless nature, he could not be controlled, even by Bibidi himself. An example of this is when Majin Beerus blew up Planet Namek and its inhabitants, and almost hit Bibidi in the process, causing Bibidi to tell Majin Beerus off and only meekly telling him he is his "father" when Majin Beerus intimidated him by glaring at him. Eventually, Majin Beerus and Bibidi made their way to the Sacred World of the Kai, where the rulers of the universe and Bibidi's sworn enemies, the Supreme Kais, lived peacefully. Majin Beerus proceeded to kill both West Supreme Kai and North Supreme Kai before encountering The Legendary Super Saiyan, Broly, the strongest of the Super Saiyans. Although Broly managed to fight more evenly with Majin Beerus than his cohorts had and landed a few hits on the monster, Majin Beerus managed to absorb Broly during their fight, which transformed him into a bulkier version of himself.

Majin Beerus then made an attempt on the life of Shin, but he was saved by the Grand Supreme Kai, who inflicted immense damage on Majin Beerus, but was unable to kill him due to Majin Beerus' regeneration. Majin Beerus then absorbed him, resulting in the God of Destruction Beerus. Due to the innocence of the Grand Supreme Kai's soul, this Beerus was much evil and tyranical than the original Majin Beerus. As Beerus became calmer and easier to control, seeing his opportunity, Bibidi finally managed to seal Majin Beerus inside of a Sealed Ball without much resistance from the latter. Bibidi was then killed by Shin a short time later, which meant the madness of Majin Beerus was believed to have ended for good. However, the fat Majin Buu was again resurrected 5 million years later on Earth by Bibidi's doppelganger, Babidi. After a long chain of events (which includes the fat Majin Buu murdering Babidi, the fight between Good Buu and Evil Buu, the birth of Super Buu, and everyone that Super Buu had absorbed (Gotenks, Piccolo, Gohan, and the fat Buu) being removed by Goku and Vegeta (when they were voluntarily absorbed when they were Vegito), the original pure evil form of Majin Beerus finally resurfaced.

Due to the destruction caused by both Majin Beerus and Champa, Majin Beerus developed a fearsome reputation in Universe 7, enough that King Cold warned Frieza to never oppose Majin Beerus.
