Linessi (リネッシ, Rinessi) is an avian humanoid of unknown origin. Renowned for her precision and agility, Linessi became the youngest champion of the Galatrix Arena's Premier League, going on to win the tournament another three times in her life. As one of the most famous and successful warriors of the Galatrix gladiator pits, Linessi was freed from gladiatorial fighting at a young age by the exiled Kai from Universe 9, Dekiru. Thereafter, she worked as a freelance assassin for high-paying clients, including the Corvos League and the Galactic Bank.

She becomes a member of Ledas' intergalactic bounty hunting team, the Starchasers, during the events of Dragon Ball: Heart of the Dragon.

Overview[]

Appearance[]

Linessi is a short avian humanoid with a tail and large eyes. Her eye color is a lavender. Her hair is naturally black, although she has been known to dye it. In Twelve Majestic Lies for example, Linessi was rocking a light blue hairdo. She is slim and agile, quick on her feet, with dance-like, swift movements that made her one of the most unique and fun-to-watch warriors in the Galactrix Arena. Her armor is usually relatively light, though after joining the Starchasers, she began wearing a modified version created by Bulma similar to Vegeta's training armor. Her movements in general are deliberate, rarely unforced, and graceful.

Linessi's aura is crimson.

Personality[]

Linessi is a focused and calm individual. While she does not usually get angry, that is not to say she is incapable of a wide spectrum of emotions. Rather, she tends to show restraint, and only acts emotionally (either in anger or happiness) on rare occasions, usually when something unexpected happens. Linessi has strong willpower, which she developed from her years in the fighting pits of Tuhak Ecli. Her dedication to becoming a stronger, more proficient warrior is fueled entirely by an internal drive to be great. She does not tolerate weakness, and is prone to make disparaging comments to her comrades when they fail at something or are too weak to help her.

When she is not fighting, Linessi is a lot more casual and sociable than one would expect. While not a natural-born leader, she has goofy, somewhat awkward sense of humor. She likes to party and dance and is moderately skilled at space karaoke. Though she can get pretty crazy in her off-time, Linessi is entirely straight-edge, never having done a drug in her life, and that is a big part of why she has remained so successful at bettering her craft while also allowing herself to have a good time every now and then. She often makes jokes, and sarcasm is her primary tool in that regard.

Due to being raised as a slave in a brutal gladiator society, Linessi has developed a cautious personality and does not open up to others unless she is very certain that they are her friends. With that said, she is trusting, perhaps to a fault, with people she does like. This is due to her generally passive personality and desire to connect with others. While she is simultaneously shy and eager to meet people, this contradiction is due more to the circumstances of her childhood than anything else.

Additionally, Linessi, though generally amoral, is more "good" than "evil". For example, she will help merchant vessels fight off space pirates if she sees a fight going down and she's not too busy. But in general, she is motivated by money and little else. Linessi is selfish, but she's neither aggressively nor destructively selfish.

In Dragon Ball: Heart of the Dragon, Linessi openly shows her doubts about the other three potential members of the Starchasers, and she probably would not have joined the group if she had not been the first one Ledas had met. She was even doubtful about joining up with the boy himself until he showed her his power. Linessi respects strong warriors, viewing them as personal motivation towards her own goals instead of looking upon them with envy.

History[]

Origins[]

Linessi was born (or, as some think, created) on Tuhak Ecli, a world owned by Erakhi Muqhat, the founder of the Galactrix Battle-Circuit. As a child, she was put under the care of Doctor Luon, who was her owner. He sold her into the fighting pits when she was seven years old to pay off debts.

Linessi's natural strength aided her well, allowing her to rise the ranks in the fighting pits quickly. By the age of twelve, she was considered skilled enough to participate in battles to the death. She won her first tournament at fifteen and began entering the Premier League afterwards in hopes of tempting a sponsor to pay for her freedom.

Linessi was never the most powerful or most popular warrior in the Galactrix Arena, though her proficiency, professionalism, and ruthlessness allowed her to quietly enjoy a remarkable career in the fighting pits. She won the Premier League three separate times, which to this day remains second only to Pukco's five. She likely would have won several more had not her freedom been purchased after the conclusion of her third win against Torruk the Cyren.

Linessi's services were purchased by the exiled Kai Dekiru in Mountain Bird. She performed one mission for him, detailed below, then became a freelance assassin/bounty hunter afterwards.

Her work for the Corvos League was kept secret, though Linessi's reputation as a universe-class assassin was somewhat known throughout the universe. However, even by the Age 778, she was still more well-known for her time in the Galactrix Arena than for her mercenary work.

Linessi remained employed by the Corvos League and other high-profile empires and organizations through Age 778 until she met Ledas and joined the Starchasers. In her off-time, she enjoyed hunting rare space predators, including nidrazi scourges and Maraenytiolians. Elsewise, she traveled, relaxed on one of her three planets, or trained. Being a relatively solitary person, she did not have many friends or acquaintances, and usually only spoke with Dekiru and her other clients.

Mountain Bird[]

In the seventh scene, Dekiru went to Universe 7, having taken the blame for interfering in Universe 12 (and getting banished for it). He visited the Galactrix Arena on Tuhak Ecli. He watched the fight between Linessi and Toruk in an executive suite. A young Faerin boy named Morun and his guard were in the suite with him. The boy wanted to bet on Linessi, but his guard told him that she would probably not win. The guard had spent 15 years in the fighting pits himself, so he thought he could tell who would win before the fight even began.

Dekiru had come to purchase Toruk's freedom, but when the fight commenced and Linessi started winning, he had second thoughts. The boy complained, for his guard had not placed the bet for Linessi. The guard contended that it was better not to gamble with his father's money, but Morun was nevertheless pissed. He asserted that he was lucky. The guard had heard enough. He cursed the boy's father and quit. He told Morun to find his own way home before walking out. Just as he did, Dekiru, still watching the fight, decided to purchase Linessi's freedom moments before she killed Toruk.

To Kill a God-Emperor[]

At the start of the first scene of this story, Dekiru congratulated Linessi for winning her fourth Premier League. She was formally released from the Galactrix Arena's hold and her brain implant (which would have exploded had she escaped from her holding area) was deactivated by an arena bot. Dekiru gave her a small white pill to eat. She ate it without question. As Dekiru and Linessi walked out of the holding cells, she noticed Toruk's empty cage and thought about how she had killed him not even thirty minutes prior to win another Premier League tournament. She refused to look at the other caged gladiators and felt somewhat guilty to be leaving them behind. They left the holding cell, Dekiru paid Linessi's severance fee, and then the two left Tuhak Ecli, forgoing any trophy presentations or press interviews.

On the flight out, Dekiru told Linessi of his intention to kill the God-Emperor of the Corvos League and take his Transport Cube, which could travel to any universe. Linessi remembered Dr. Luon training her to be obedient to whoever bought her and so she eagerly replied to Dekiru that she would do what he had commanded of her. He ordered her to kill the God-Emperor and his guards, but not before Dekiru taught her some necessary techniques. He told her that the God-Emperor's guards would be about 120% the strength of Toruk apiece and that their leader, the ninth guard, was about twice as strong as Toruk.

She thought about how Toruk had almost self-destructed before she had killed him before assuring the Kai that it would be no problem for her to take them out. Dekiru was most pleased. He promised to free her if she managed to kill God-Emperor Takkyi’eil and his guards and secure the Kai the Transport Cube so that he could return to Universe 10. She told him she would not fail him, even though in her heart, she was deeply terrified of the concept of being freed to do whatever she wanted. The Kai reminded her that God-Emperors died just the same as pit fighters in an attempt to calm her.

At the start of the second scene, Linessi remembered when Dr. Luon had banished her from his house, insisting that she did not have long to live. Shortly afterwards, arena bots had come to claim her for the Galactrix Arena. She snapped out of her thoughts, returning to the park in Atjoh that Dekiru had brought her to. They sat at a table and drank Green Liani tea (after Dekiru gave her another pill to eat) while the Kai tried to teach her how to sense ki by conjuring a small energy ball and moving it around the park. While it took Linessi a while to do so, she eventually managed to do it. Next, he told her he would teach her how to use Instant Transmission with that energy ball in order to kill the God-Emperor. He teleported away, leaving her alone in the park.

In the third scene, Linessi continued her training. She noted that Dekiru did not interact with her much outside of their training sessions. She learned how to suppress her ki after four days, learned Instant Transmission after nine days, and learned how to use Instant Transmission on her ki after about a month. Dekiru had not shown enthusiasm to her upon her mastering of the technique, but he immediately set up a meeting with the God-Emperor afterwards. Linessi remembered how Dr. Luon had once told her that he had crafted her to be a perfect being who was capable of growth and adaptation at a much faster rate than most species. She assumed that was why she had learned Dekiru's techniques so quickly.

In the fourth scene, Dekiru took Linessi to Dhennon Xi, where they met with the God-Emperor of the Corvos League, seven members of his Elder Circle, and the God-Emperor's champion. There were many more guards there than Linessi had expected, which worried her. Dekiru first spoke to the God-Emperor's avatar (speaking to him directly would be too rude) and arranged the fight between Linessi and the champion. After everything was put in order, the two faced each other on a stage (with a cage erected around it to protect the spectators).

Not long into the fight, Linessi used her Purging Light attack to Instantly Transmit energy to the people watching, which killed the God-Emperor, the members of the Elder Circle, and most of the guards. She finished off the champion immediately after and then fought off the surviving guards. Once she killed the last of them, Dekiru emerged from cover and congratulated her. He walked off to the Transport Cube on the far side of the garden, granting Linessi her freedom and telling her that he would be returning home in that thing. Briefly, Linessi considered going with him, but she banished the thought soon after.

Dekiru was attacked by a guard when he arrived at the vehicles. Linessi teleported over to them. She was shocked to see how weak Dekiru was compared to the guard. Disillusioned by her master, she destroyed the Transport Cube. He was utterly outraged at what she had done and so attacked her with a ki blade. She dodged it, stepping back to allow the guard to kill the man. He did so without much effort. Afterwards, Linessi killed the guard with a simple finger beam to the brain.

At that moment, the God-Emperor's avatar appeared. She declared that Linessi was the new God-Emperor. She also told her that Tuhanlahir, the Wind of Krakatan, was the fastest ship in the universe. Linessi rejected the title of God-Emperor, killed the avatar, and then stole Tuhanlahir.

Many years later, in Age 776, Linessi was hunting a petty criminal on Faeri when Icer contacted her and offered to pay her if she killed the current God-Emperor of the Corvos League, stating that he knew she had done it once before. She killed her target and then told Icer that she would kill the God-Emperor for him. He offered to give her an empire for the hit, but she declined.

Twelve Majestic Lies[]

In the first scene of this story, when Kuriza confronted the Metamorans for ordering all of the Space Sonikku's remaining tacos, a fight erupted between them. The Metamorans performed the fusion dance. Kuriza prepared a purple ball of energy to kill them. However, before his attack hit them, a woman appeared, told everyone that if someone else killed the Metamorans, she would not get paid, and then promptly executed the fusion. Kuriza was most pleased with that. She vanished into thin air before he could thank her.

Ginyu's scouter read a power level of 55,000. He was shocked at that power level and ran outside to the parking lot to pursue. She confronted him there, wanting to know why he was following her. The captain offered her a spot on the Ginyu Force. Linessi asked him how much he would pay. When he didn't answer immediately, she left, disappearing without a trace.

In the second scene, while Ginyu was running an errand for the silver-toothed Nyarin Adukacho, he had noticed Nurt, Ghurt's Blood, fighting Linessi, the Space Flea, on a floating television screen.

Across the Universe[]

In the first scene of chapter 2, Udon and Soba visited a nearby world that they could sense an energy signal on. It was a swampy and foggy place. Udon caught a glimpse of a creature through the mist, confirming that it was a huge animal. He excitedly told Soba about it. Just then, a black blur knocked the two to the mud. A female alien appeared. She asked the two to remain quiet, as she had been hunting this Nidrazi scourge for a fortnight. She asked them to stay back, though they could watch if they remained quiet.

She introduced herself as Linessi, asking the two if they had heard of her before. Soba had not. Udon was busy moaning about getting mud all over him. She walked off, pursuing the beast. Udon sat up and mentioned that Linessi had once been a gladiator in the Galactrix Arena. He had seen her on space television before. Udon thought they should follow her.

Soba closed his eyes, sensing for the Nidrazi's energy signal. When he did so, he felt a presence in the Teleportation Zone pulling at him. He fell over, his vision blurring. Udon asked him what was wrong. Soba told him that he couldn't use his Instant Transmission, as there was something in the Teleportation Zone affecting him when he tried. Udon didn't believe him, blaming it on the humidity.

They followed Linessi into the mist. As they went, Soba asked his friend what a Nidrazi was. Udon explained that it was a large, winged creature, typically hunted for sport. They were one of the few non-sapient beings capable of producing ki attacks, and were extremely dangerous. He mentioned it was rumored that Lord Frieza himself had one as a personal pet.

They came to a clearing in the forest where a great lake was situated. Above it, the Nidrazi flew. It dove into the lake. Soba sensed that Linessi was far above them, in the clouds, descending at great speed. Udon complimented her as she drew close to the beast. The animal noticed her and attacked her with mouth beams and bites, but she dodged all of them, which impressed Soba greatly. He wanted to become as good as her one day. Udon was impressed as well. Linessi took down the beast with a series of Electroparalysis energy balls.

Afterwards, she landed in front of the Yardrats, her catch whimpering in the electricity field on the ground behind her. Soba congratulated her, making somewhat of a fool of himself in the process. He asked her how she had learned all those techniques. The woman said she had mostly taught herself at a young age. Soba admitted that he and Udon were lost in this region of space and asked Linessi if there were any outposts nearby. She told them about one, a small rest stop for smugglers and scientists, that had a cartographer they could likely use. They thanked her and departed for it. Linessi released the Nidrazi, vowing to hunt it again sometime soon.

In the fourth scene, Soba remembered Linessi's beautiful form, and wishing to learn similar skills, agreed to join the Venyi Academy.

In the tenth scene of chapter 4, Soba met with a buyer for Fubon. He had already met with several space pirates who had wanted to mine the oceans of resources, but he was unwilling to sell the planet to anyone who would not take care of Udon's animals. The buyer who met with him that morning was Linessi. The two recognized each other. Soba asked her what she was going to do with Udon's animals. She promised to keep them on the planet, as they had been in captivity for too long to be returned to the wild. She asked him why he was selling it, but Soba refused to tell her the truth. Nevertheless, Linessi realized that Soba would sell the planet for practically anything. He wanted to sell it for ₩100,000,000. She offered him ₩2 as a joke, which greatly flustered the young Yardrat. Laughing, the bounty hunter then tossed him a bag full of ₩100,000 chips. He didn't count the precise number of chips, but was satisfied. The two exchanged a few more words before Soba left Fubon for good.

To be added.

The Great Sushi-Eating Contest[]

In this story, after Ledas convinced Tarble to come with him on the bounty hunting mission to assassinate Haimaru and Raimie, the boy told him that he wanted to introduce him to the other members of his bounty hunting crew. That night, indulging in nostalgia, Ledas took a train out of the city. While he was on the second train platform, waiting for his next train, he was confronted by Vizzer. Vizzer told the boy that the Starchasers had located Haimaru and Raimie and were ready to set out whenever he wanted. He told the genetic specimen that they would be leaving in the morning and that a new member would be joining them for the trip. Vizzer flew off, promising to tell Linessi, Okinaro, and Naemi.

The Monster and the Maiden[]

In the sixth scene of this story, the Starchasers came upon a statue of the Golden Wind on the streets of Loru Qir. Ledas grinned. He told his companions that his mother had known that woman and silently confirmed to himself that the story she had told him so many years ago about the female Legendary Super Saiyan had been true. Memories of his mother and father, of Len and Jaduu, returned to him, and he felt nostalgic and happy.
