The Iboinoshishi School was the last known school in the world to teach students in the ways of the samurai warrior. It was located in the town of Cardan, three miles south of Orange Star City. Led by Elijah as of Age 747, it was in steep decline. Indeed, when the school was re-opened in Age 749, Yajirobe, Brian, Harotu, Anders, and a few others were the first recruits in several years. Their group was also the last to be taught by Elijah before the Daimyo retired. Masamune/Masamune funded the school; the swordsmith Jakuto Masamune was responsible for forging katanas for the dojo.
History[]
In Age 747, during the events of Chasing Oblivion, Yunwu, the deputy mayor of South City, met with Elijah the samurai. He asked her to find out what Makare, his old rival, was doing in Orange Star City in exchange for a 10% stake in Masamune/Masamune. When Yunwu attempted to negotiate for a 20% stake, the samurai offered her 15%, but no more. She continued to negotiate, which Elijah thought was greatly disrespectful, so he got up to leave. Finally, Yunwu relented, and agreed to the 15% stake. Elijah gave her one week to come up with an answer to his question, or their contract would be void.
Some time later, reports came to Yunwu from Daniel Parroda, her contact, that the samurai had been spotted in Orange Star City (which was just north of Cardan, the countryside town where the Iboinoshishi School was located), where they had gotten into a huge fight with members of the Chàoxing Gon. Koicharu Mazuchiru's yakuza forces had been butchered by the samurai, greatly reducing their fighting numbers in that city.
In Age 749, the Iboinoshishi School opened once more. Dozens of children, aged 11 to 16, attempted to join. Their first test was to hold a pose for fifteen minutes straight. Only thirteen recruits made it that far. Their second task was to steal the hat of General Blue, who was in Orange Star City at the time. Seven of the recruits refused to do so, for they believed it would be too dangerous. The remaining six - Yajirobe, Brian, Harotu, Anders, Nameless Child 1, Nameless Child 2 - agreed to perform the task. They were successful. Over the coming months, the students continued their training under Elijah and Kumo, though Anders was removed from the school after disrespecting Elijah, Nameless Child 1 was murdered by Launch during one training exercise, and Nameless Child 2 was killed by General Blue.
The remaining three recruits were given forged katanas and were taught how to use them. They were only able to train with the katanas for about four weeks before Makare's Band descended upon the school and attacked. All of Elijah's attendants were killed in the attack, as was Kumo. Harotu fled, while Brian and Yajirobe were captured and taken to the caves of Igaron mountain. In Igaron mountain, Brian accidentally set off some explosives that had been left there by Daniel Parroda (as he had wanted to eradicate Makare's Band too, but had been killed before he could trigger the explosives), killing himself, Naigo, and every samurai in Makare's Band. Thereafter, the school grounds ruined, all but one recruit dead, and Elijah no longer having any attendants or helpers, the school officially closed.
Following a trip to see his friend, the Ox-King, Elijah moved into the Masamune/Masamune villa in Cardan.
