  • Goku (孫 悟空, Son Gokū) is a male Saiyan and main protagonist of the Dragon Ball meta-series created by Akira Toriyama. Initially believed to have been born on Earth, Goku later learns his true heritage and his birth name Kakarot (カカロット). As Goku grows up, he becomes the Earth's mightiest warrior and protects his adopted home planet from those who seek to harm it.

Goku is the younger son of Bardock and Gine, and the younger brother of Raditz. After marrying Chi-Chi, they have two sons, Gohan and Goten.

Goku is known for his cheerful, energetic personality and his love for competition and eating. He takes most situations in stride, rarely letting things get him worked; the first time he lost his tail, while initially freaking out, he instantly got over it. He will eat anything.
He has remarkable intuition to see the good in others in spite of their actions, though his capacity for forgiving has occasionally been criticized as excessive even to a fault and has lead to harm and death to those he cares about in extreme occasions; though Goku mostly fights to win, he often spares his enemies even if they in turn attack him.
Goku is pure of heart, possessing no negative feelings or thoughts. He is also shown to be very innocent since childhood, because of growing up in Mount Paozu and not having met anyone other than his grandpa until he meets Bulma. During his childhood, he had difficulty telling the difference between a male and a female without physically touching them, which often gets him into trouble, until he eventually outgrew this once old enough to understand the difference. In the anime, Goku has been shown to have a fear for needles.

    Gine, Kakarot (Goku) & Bardock

On Planet Vegeta, Kakarot was born on Planet Vegeta to his parents, Bardock and Gine, in Age 737. He was ranked a low class warrior in the Saiyan Army.

    Kakarot (Goku).png

Kakarot had been inside his incubation chamber since birth. His father, Bardock makes the decision to send Kakarot away to Earth in an Attack Ball due to being worried about Frieza's ambitions. Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta a month after Kakarot has been sent away.

    Between Jaco and Dragon Ball[]

    Grandpa Gohan & Kakarot (Goku)

Days later after being sent to Earth, Kakarot lands in Mount Paozu. While there, he is found by an elderly man, Gohan. He takes him in and feeds the newly found alien. Kakarot is eating when he is given the name "Son Goku".

At first, he was an extremely violent and ill-tempered boy, not obeying Gohan at all, but one day he fell down a ravine and suffered head trauma that sent him into a coma and nearly killed him. After he recovers, Goku's personality has completely changed, going from being a violent to a good-tempered little boy. Gohan trains him in Martial Arts, teaching him techniques such as the Jan Ken Technique, and giving him the Power Pole. He is seemly normal except for his ignorance of the world (which is demonstrated numerous times, often in humorous ways). But Gohan has made him aware about such things as the cities outside Mt. Paozu.

    Grandpa Gohan and Goku

Goku developed the impression that his birth parents abandoned him in the mountains as a baby leaving him for Gohan to discover. One night, Gohan witnesses Goku's full moon transformation and told him to never go out when there's a full moon. Another night Goku kills his grandfather by accident after transforming into a Great Ape, having no  memory of the incident.

After learning of the seven magical Dragon Ball, Goku teams up with Bulma to search for the remaining Dragon Balls. After the Dragon Balls are stolen by Emperor Pilaf, he later witness Shenron being summoned and Oolong's wish for panties. Piccolo (who had been resurrected and was transported to Namek to help), Gohan and Krillin attempt to distract Frieza from Goku so he can gather the energy. Finally, with all his might, Goku launches the attack, which hits a struggling Frieza, and seemingly destroys him, along with a good portion of Namek in a devastating explosion. Worn out, Goku begins to laugh, along with his friends, who believe Frieza has been defeated. But even Goku's most powerful attack, the Large Spirit Bomb, fails to kill Frieza. Finally, when Frieza kills Krillin and critically injures Piccolo, Goku, in anger, taps into his inner power reserves and transforms into a Super Saiyan

Frieza (100% Final Form) Super Saiyan Goku

After defeating Frieza, Goku then flies to Frieza's spaceship and presses buttons to try to cause the ship to fly, however, it does not work and Frieza's spaceship falls into the lava. He quickly escapes Namek using one of the Ginyu Force space pods. The pod takes Goku to Planet Yardrat, which was going to be the Ginyu Force's next target. His friends, who were teleported to Earth by a wish made with the Namekian Dragon Balls, believe him to be dead. However, months later, when they attempt to revive Goku and Krillin by warping them to the check-in station, they learn that Goku is alive. When they decide to transport him back to Earth, he declines, stating that he'll return later. While on Yardrat, Goku learns a new technique called the Instant Transmission.

Future Trunks (Super Saiyan) vs. Goku (Super Saiyan)

Two years later, Goku returns to Earth where he is confronted by Trunks, the half-Saiyan son of Vegeta and Bulma from the future. The teenage Super Saiyan had just killed both Mecha-Frieza and his father King Cold a few moments before Goku's arrival. Trunks then tests Goku's Super Saiyan strength in battle by assaulting him furiously with his sword, which Goku knocks away multiple times with one finger (albeit charged with energy), claiming that he knew Trunks would not use his full power.

Goku training with Gohan and Piccolo

Satisfied, Trunks gives Goku medicine for a heart virus that he will contract in one or two years, telling him to use it when he starts feeling the virus' effects. Future Trunks also warns him about two androids that will threaten the Earth in three years. Goku, Gohan and Piccolo then spend the next three years training for this new threat. However, Future Trunks' visit somehow alters the onset of the virus, so it does not manifest during those three years (six months prior to the Androids arrival). Seeing no point in using the medicine when nothing appears to be wrong with him, Goku stopped taking it.

    Cooler's Revenge (Movie)[]

    Goku vs Cooler (Final Form)

Sometime between Age 764 - 767, Cooler, Frieza's brother, comes to earth with his troops in order to avenge his brother by defeating Goku. They arrive to Earth and attack Goku while he was camping with his friends. When Goku tries to protect Gohan from an attack from Cooler, he is seriously injured. Gohan takes him to hide in a cave, and goes to get Senzu Beans to help him recover, while Cooler's troops try to find Goku.

Cooler (Super Evolution Form) vs. Goku (Super Saiyan)

On his way back, he is attacked by Cooler's henchmen, but Piccolo stalls them long enough to let Gohan get a bean to Goku. Goku then fights Cooler, who transforms into his fifth form and gets the upper hand. But Goku turns into a Super Saiyan, and is able to destroy Cooler by pushing his Supernova Cooler back with a Kamehameha, which sends Cooler to the sun.

Android, Imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell and Cell Games Saga[]

Goku (Super Saiyan) vs. Android 19

Three years later, two androids, Dr. Gero (as Android 20) and Android 19, appear and attack a city. The Z Fighters confront them, and Yamcha is first to be attacked, having been impaled by Dr. Gero's hand and having his energy stolen. However, he is saved by the use of a Senzu Bean, and the Z Fighters lead the two killing machines out of the city to fight. Despite being a Super Saiyan, Goku is bested by Android 19 when he begins to drastically weaken from the heart disease he was warned of, which starts manifesting itself during the fight. However, Vegeta, who now is a Super Saiyan as well, manages to save Goku before he can be defeated by the androids, and, after toying with it for a bit, destroys Android 19 with ease, enjoying the battle greatly.

Yamcha takes Goku to Chi-Chi to get the medicine that will save his life from the killer virus. Meanwhile, the rest of the Z Fighters learn from Trunks, who has returned to help them fight the androids, that history had somehow been altered, and that the androids of his time, Future Android 17 and Future Android 18, had not been the ones they were fighting. Soon after, Dr. Gero states he will unleash No.17 and No.18, and he flees from the battlefield. They try to stop Dr. Gero from activating them but fail. However, once Dr. Gero activates 17 and 18, they are revealed to be unruly and kill him, and activate another android, Android 16, as well, who was solely created to be Goku's assassin.

Future Trunks, Vegeta, Gohan and Goku

While the Z-Fighters try and fail to stop the androids, Piccolo (who had recently fused with Kami) discovers a new threat named Cell, a large biological life form created by Dr. Gero, made with DNA taken from Goku, his allies, and foes they fought in the past. Cell was designed to absorb Androids 17 and 18 in order to achieve a perfect state, kill Goku, and conquer the cosmos. Cell hunts down the androids and absorbs Android 17, transforming into his second stage. Meanwhile, Goku heals from his sickness and takes Gohan, Vegeta, and Future Trunks to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber at Kami's Lookout to obtain a year of training in one day under heavy gravity and incredibly volatile temperatures.

Goku (Super Saiyan - Full Power) and Gohan (Super Saiyan - Full Power)

Vegeta and Future Trunks go in first and while Goku and Gohan enter the Time Chamber next, go to find and fight Cell. While in the chamber, Goku gets to Super Saiyan Third Grade and Gohan believes that Goku can beat Cell with this power, however Goku explains that his speed has decreased in that form and the power to keep the form is too much. Goku realizes that half Saiyan hybrids like Future Trunks can turn Super Saiyan, so he trains Gohan intensely and helps him become a Super Saiyan as well. During this training, Goku notices that the potential Gohan has can easily surpass Goku's own powers, especially after Gohan managed during their training to transform into a Super Saiyan 2 before losing consciousness.

Goku (Super Saiyan - Full Power) vs. Cell (Perfect Form)

After ten days have passed, the Z Fighters head to the Cell Games. After the supposed strongest person on Earth, Mr. Satan, is easily defeated, Goku offers to be the first Z Fighter to fight Cell, believing that he is no match for the villain in order to truly test Cell's abilities. Goku finds himself almost equally matched but still at a disadvantage against a heavily suppressed Perfect Cell in every way, and cannot seem to gain the upper hand after many attempts. Even after trying the Instant Kamehameha (a combination of the Instant Transmission and Kamehameha), which destroys Perfect Cell's upper half, he watches in horror as the android regenerates easily, thanks to Piccolo's cells in his body. After getting tired and worn out, Goku decides to give up and leave the battle to Gohan, whom he is convinced has the hidden power necessary to defeat Cell.

Goku saving goodbye before his death with Cell

After Gohan tells Cell that when he gets angry he gets much stronger, Cell starts to get curious and tries to force Gohan's inner powers out of him by making his children, the Cell Jrs, attack Gohan's friends and his father. All the Z fighters cannot beat the Cell Jrs, including Goku, who was worn out from his battle with Cell. After Android 16 attempted self-destruct on Cell, who blasted him, 16 asks Mr. Satan to bring him (his remaining Android head) to Gohan, and he then tries to convince Gohan that fighting is sometimes needed. When Cell destroys Android 16's head, this triggers a change in Gohan, forcing him to ascend to Super Saiyan 2, a form in which he greatly surpasses Cell in his Perfect form and Power Weughted Form. When a beaten Cell tries to destroy the Earth as a last resort, Goku is forced to step in with his "Instant Transmission" technique when Cell is about to trigger his self-destruction. He teleports them both to King Kai's Planet, where he is killed by the explosion Cell caused, along with King Kai and his pets Bubbles and Gregory.

    Goku and Gohan

However, Cell reconstructs himself as Super Perfect Cell, a trick even Cell himself did not know he had and uses the recently learned Instant Transmission to go back to Earth. Goku then motivates Gohan from the Other World to help fuel Gohan's Kamehameha wave against the reconstructed Super Perfect Cell, which, after a lengthy beam lock, successfully obliterates him. After Cell's defeat, Goku insists that he should stay dead, even though they could resurrect him, because he has attracted too many problems to Earth, like Frieza and the Red Ribbon Androids. Goku decides it will be safer for Earth if he does not return, and Earth has Gohan to protect it if needed.

    Bojack Unbound (Movie)[]

    Goku saving Gohan from Bojack

While a dead Goku is hanging around with King Kai in the Other World, the Z Fighters enter Intergalactic World Tournament on Earth, which was hijacked by the alien mercenary Bojack. He had been freed from his imprisonment when Cell made King Kai's planet explode, thanks to Goku.  The Z Fighters are unable to defeat Bojack and his band, and when Bojack starts to bear-hug Gohan to death, Goku teleports to Earth using Instant Transmission (something somehow against the rules of the dead), which allows him to appear briefly and punch Bojack away. Goku also tells Gohan to protect the Earth and unleash all the anger and power he had in him. Goku then vanishes back to the Other World. Not sure if he really saw his father, Gohan is nevertheless encouraged enough to release his power and defeat Bojack.

Other World, World Tournament and Babidi Saga[]

    Pikkon and Goku in Hell

Goku is shown on Snake Way with King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory after the battle with Cell left the great king without his planet. King Kai insists they head to the Grand Kai's Planet to go see the Grand Kai and enter the Other World Tournament. The winner would be trained personally by the mighty Grand Kai himself. When they arrive, they confront King Kai's rival, the West Kai, accompanied by his strongest fighter, Pikkon. Grand Kai instructs Pikkon to travel to Hell and stop Cell, Frieza, King Cold, and the Ginyu Force from causing havoc. Goku accompanies Pikkon to the fight and takes down the Ginyu Force, only to be astonished when Pikkon takes down Cell with ease, and proceeds to fell Frieza and King Cold with one blow.

    Super Saiyan Goku vs. Pikkon

Upon his return to King Kai, Goku is welcomed by many of King Kai's powerful warriors, such as Olibu, who was once the hero of Earth. During the Tournament, Goku easily makes his way through the tournament by defeating Caterpy of the South Kai, Arqua of the East Kai, and Maraikoh of the West Kai. Goku then faces off with Pikkon in the finals. After a long fight, they are both disqualified on a technicality, but the Grand Kai allows them both to train under him.Over the next seven years, while Goku is training in Other World he achieves Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan 3, the latter of which boosts his power even beyond his already powerful Super Saiyan 2, but delivers an excruciating strain and immeasurable ki consumption.

    Fortune Teller Baba and Goku

Seven years later, Goku is given special permission to return to Earth for one day to participate in the 25th Tenkaichi Budōkai, which he knows Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, and his youngest son Goten, will be attending. Upon his return he meets his second child, Goten, who had been born after his death in the Cell Games, and Videl, Gohan's girlfriend from his high school who is the daughter of Mr. Satan, the fraud who received the credit for saving the world from Cell. Goku was going to be set up against Vegeta in the 6th match, finally able to settle their rivalry, but had to be postponed because Videl was beaten badly by the supposed weakling Spopovich, who, along with Yamu, is controlled by the evil wizard Babidi. While Gohan is matched up against Kibito (the assistant of Shin, who was in the tournament as well), Spopovich and Yamu both steal Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 energy and left the tournament while all the Z Fighters in the tournament ditched the tournament to follow them to Babidi.

Goku (Super Saiyan) vs. Majin Yakon

Shin and Kibito introduced themselves and informed the Z Fighters about the plans of Babidi who wishes to bring destruction and terror across the whole universe by bringing back his extremely evil monster puppet by the name of Majin Buu. The Z Warriors follow Spopovich to Babidi's ship where they are ambushed by Dabura, the powerful ruler of the Demon Realm, who kills Kibito and turns Krillin and Piccolo to stone. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Shin enter Babidi's ship and they take turns defeating each of his minions on each room of the ship, their power leaving Shin in awe. Goku fights Yakon who absorbs his energy, but Goku kills him by overpowering and exploding him.

Goku (Super Saiyan 2) vs Majin Vegeta (Super Saiyan 2)

While Gohan is against Dabura, Vegeta complains that he can do better. When Babidi hears that, he possesses Vegeta through the evil in his heart and turns him into Majin Vegeta making him evil once again. They are transported back to the tournament, where Vegeta blows up part of the stadium, killing many people, to force Goku into a fight. Albeit reluctantly, Goku agrees. Goku and Vegeta are both transported to a deserted landscape for them to settle their battle, while Gohan and Shin continue on to stop Babidi. Goku and Majin Vegeta have an earth-shattering battle which gives more than enough energy for Majin Buu's awakening. Although they are evenly matched at Super Saiyan 2, Goku is not surprised Vegeta has pushed his limits in training over the past seven years. However Goku is horrified when Vegeta admits he allowed Babidi to take control of him so he can reawaken the evil in him and defeat Goku, who condemns Vegeta for using this as an excuse for betraying his family. The battle abruptly ends when Goku senses that Majin Buu has been released and pleads with Vegeta to help him defeat Majin Buu. Vegeta refuses to listen, even when told Majin Buu will kill his family, but Goku punches him down for bluffing. In a false show of agreement, Vegeta knocks Goku out from behind while he is getting a Senzu Bean out of a bag. Vegeta then eats the only Senzu Bean left and flies off to face Majin Buu alone.

Majin Buu, Fusion and Kid Buu Saga[]

    Goku awakes

Upon awakening, Goku could sense neither Vegeta nor Gohan anywhere and comes to the conclusion that they have been killed in the battle (when actually Gohan was narrowly saved by the badly injured Supreme Kai, and only Vegeta died in a vain attempt to try and eradicate Majin Buu). He heads to Kami's Lookout and is healed by Dende, who confirms that Vegeta sacrificed himself in an attempt to destroy Majin Buu. After transporting everyone to the Lookout, he tells the bad news to them. With the little time he has left on Earth, with the help of Piccolo, he decides to teach Trunks and Goten the Fusion Dance, which he learned from Metamorans while in Other World, so they may form one immensely powerful being that might stand a chance against Majin Buu.

Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs Majin Buu

After finding out that the Dragon Radar is still in West City and Majin Buu is about to cause more destruction, Goku decides to distract him while allowing Trunks to head into West City and retrieve the Dragon Radar before it is destroyed along with everything else in West City by Majin Buu, otherwise they will never be able to find the Dragon Balls. Goku teleports to Majin Buu's location, and shows him and everyone (via Babidi's telepathy) the incredible power of Super Saiyan 3, whose energy could be sensed all the way to Supreme Kai's planet. Goku then engages in a fight with Majin Buu, whom he overpowers blow for blow. Amazingly, Majin Buu is still having a good time and enjoying the fight, even forcing Goku to narrowly deflect an imitated version of his own Kamehameha wave, which chips over a tenth of the Earth. He later states, that he probably could have won, but that he wanted to leave it in the hands of Gohan, Trunks, and Goten because he will not be there forever, and that they need to have a shot at saving the universe instead of a dead fighter. Unfortunately, the action of sustaining Super Saiyan 3 to briefly fight with Buu shortens Goku's time on Earth and he is forced to return to the Other World.

Gohan and Goku on the Scared World of the Kais

Once Goku has returned to Other World, he learns that his son, Gohan, is not dead, but in fact training with Shin on the Kai Planet teleporting there only to just miss having his head removed by Gohan practicing with The Z Sword. Gohan has been training with the legendary Z Sword, and to test its strength, Shin summons a block of the densest metal in the universe, Kachin, as testing material. Goku throws the cube at Gohan, expecting the Z Sword to slice the block in half. Instead, the sword snaps in half and from it emerges Old Kai, who tells them that he will fully unlock Gohan's potential with a ritual.

Gohan hugs his father, before returning to Earth

Through a Crystal Ball, Goku watches the fight between Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks and Super Buu with much anticipation, amazed that the two boys who, alone, could only access the Super Saiyan state achieved Super Saiyan 3 so quickly when fused. As Gotenks is about to finish Super Buu after a lengthy battle, he reverts to his base form and quickly defuses. Gohan (after having his hidden power released) then arrives, effortlessly thrashing Buu with his newfound powers, but Super Buu escapes by self-destructing until Goten and Trunks can fuse again an hour later, and he then absorbs Gotenks and Piccolo, gaining the upper hand.

When Gohan fails due to Super Buu's stolen powers, Old Kai gives his life to Goku so that he may return to Earth to help Gohan. Goku is also given Potara Earrings so that he can fuse with Gohan in order to create an unmatched warrior that would easily destroy Buu without even the need to transform according to Old Kai. When Goku arrives on the battlefield, much to the surprise of Gohan and Super Buu, he cuts Super Buu in half with a Destructo Disc and tosses one of the earrings to Gohan. Gohan misses for the grab, and Goku tells Gohan to hurry and find the earring. He stalls Super Buu, fighting as a Super Saiyan 3. After the fight, Gotenks defuses inside Super Buu, and his power drops to almost 1/3 of his original power. Goku states that he is not much of a threat anymore and realizes that they can beat Super Buu easily. However, Gohan is absorbed when Super Buu catches him off-guard.

Super Buu (Gohan Absorbed) vs. Super Vegito

At this moment of despair, the newly resurrected Vegeta appears and Goku asks him to fuse with him. Vegeta refuses and the two briefly battle Super Buu but fail miserably. Goku then tells Vegeta that their families and friends have been killed and begs for Vegeta to put their differences aside so they can save the Earth. Vegeta finally agrees and the two of the most powerful remaining Saiyans fuse to become Vegito. Vegito then easily thrashes Super Buu, even with Gohan absorbed. Super Buu tries every technique and attack he has got against the fused Saiyans, but Vegito manages to dodge by all of them without much trouble. After a lengthy fight, the mighty Vegito wins easily. However, supposedly due to Vegeta's arrogance in not simply finishing Buu off, Vegito is eventually absorbed by Super Buu, with a Saiyan Shield protecting him. However, it is later revealed that he chose to be absorbed on purpose because he wanted to rescue his friends and family before killing Super Buu.

Super Saiyan Vegeta and Super Saiyan Goku

Inside Buu, Vegito automatically separates into the two Saiyans supposedly due to the properties of Super Buu's digestive system (their time limit ran out, at this point they believed the fusion was permanent). While in the stomach, Goku is attacked by enzymes that quickly cover his body, making him sticky and burning him in pain. While Goku struggle to get enzymes off, a roundworm shows up. Goku is almost eaten by the roundworm until he finally blasts the enzymes off his body. After traveling through Super Buu's body, Goku and Vegeta reach Super Buu's brain where they find Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Piccolo, unconscious but still alive. After freeing them and having to fight Super Buu inside his own body, Vegeta decides to remove the unconscious fat Majin Buu from Super Buu. Despite pleas from Super Buu, Vegeta pulls the fat Majin Buu free and Super Buu undergoes another transformation. Goku and Vegeta then escape from Super Buu's body with the newly rescued Z Fighters. Super Buu then transforms back to his original form, Kid Buu.

Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs. Kid Buu

Outside, Goku rescues Mr. Satan, his dog Bee, and Dende, but fails in saving Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo before the newly transformed Kid Buu destroys the Earth in an extreme show of power. Kibito Kai teleports in and saves Vegeta, Goku, Dende, and Mr. Satan by bringing them to the Sacred World of the Kai. After regenerating, Kid Buu sets out to find Goku and Vegeta by copying Kibito Kai's instantaneous movement technique. When Kid Buu finds them, Vegeta and Goku have a Rock-Paper-Scissors match to see who fights first. Goku wins and fights Buu. In the Anime, he starts the fight as a Super Saiyan 2, but eventually transforms into Super Saiyan 3. When he is a Super Saiyan 3, he fights evenly with Kid Buu for a short time, taking the advantage often. However, Goku had failed to account for the strain that fighting in a living body would have on him, and soon becomes exhausted. He attempts to gather up his strength while Vegeta distracts Buu, but his Super Saiyan 3 transformation drains him of his energy reserves and he soon loses the ability to maintain the form. At Vegeta's suggestion, Goku begins gathering energy for a Super Spirit Bomb that would employ energies of the Earth and its occupants.

Goku gathering Energy for the Super Spirit Bomb

Using King Kai's telepathy, Vegeta speaks to the newly revived people of Earth and begs for everyone to donate power to Goku's Spirit Bomb, which they are hesitant to do. Everyone on New Namek and the Other World gives energy for the Super Spirit Bomb and possibly many other planets as well, along with Goku's close friends. Meanwhile, Fat Majin Buu, while trying to hold off Kid Buu, falls in battle leaving a battered Vegeta to protect Goku while he forms the Super Spirit Bomb. Eventually, Mr. Satan finally convinces everyone on the newly regenerated Earth to give Goku all the energy he needs to destroy Kid Buu once and for all. With the contribution of power from Earth, Goku launches the Super Spirit Bomb. But as impossible as it seems, Kid Buu actually stops the Spirit Bomb and slowly begins to push it back at Goku. Vegeta realizes Goku used the rest of his power to gather and form the bomb and has nothing left to defeat Buu.

Goku reunited with his family and friends on Earth

Using the last wish from the Namekian Dragon (the first two were spent restoring Earth to its normal condition and then reviving all those who died since Babidi's arrival except the evil ones), Dende wishes for Goku's full power to be restored. With his power restored, Goku powers up the Super Spirit Bomb even more, transforms into a Super Saiyan and stops Kid Buu's forward progress and the Super Spirit Bomb comes back to Kid Buu. After several moments reflecting over the events that led to this moment, Goku makes one last wish to himself, that Kid Buu be reborn as a good being so they can fight again one day. With the blessing of Earth's residents, Goku destroys Kid Buu. After Dende heals Goku and Vegeta, they find Majin Buu still alive. Vegeta attempts to finish him off but Goku convinces Vegeta to spare him. They are then teleported back to Earth and rejoice with their families, with Goku announcing he has come back to life again. Six months after the defeat of Kid Buu, Goku summons Shenron to erase Majin Buu from the Earthlings' minds. Later, Goku shows up late to Bulma's party due to him watching over dinosaur eggs.

    Wrath of the Dragon (Movie)[]

    • In this version of Wrath of the Dragon, the ending is changed.

    Gohan, Videl and Goku

Months after the defeat of Kid Buu in Age 774, Goku tries to open a magic music box that Gohan had gotten from Hoi but he can not open it, so they go and find the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron. When Shenron opened the box, Tapion came out. Because Tapion was freed, the upper half of Hirudegarn was also freed. The lower half was already attacking the city, but Gohan was working on stopping him.

    Dragon Fist used on Hirudegarn

The next day Tapion went to Trunks' home and Bulma made him a house with the same material as the music box, so Tapion could sleep without worrying about Hirudegarn, but when Tapion went to sleep, Hirudegarn escaped and found his lower half, thus making him one monster again. When Goku, Gohan and Goten try to attack him, it does nothing because Hirudegarn is too fast. Later, Gotenks is formed and he gets Hirudegarn down, but it only made him transform and Hirudegarn knocks Gotenks out. When there was almost no hope left, Goku transformed into Super Saiyan 3 and started to fight Hirudegarn. When Trunks wanted to help Goku, he said that he wanted to handle Hirudegarn alone. Then he catches a few punches from Hirudegarn, and when Hirudegarn threw another punch, Goku simply jumped over it and fired the Dragon Fist at Hirudegarn, thus destroying him. After the Dragon Balls are used to revive Earth's victims (including Minotia), Goku uses Instant Transmission to take Tapion and Minotia back to Konats.

Yo Son Goku and Friends Return!! (Jump Special)[]

    Goku as a Radish Farmer

Two years after Kid Buu's extinction, Goku becomes a farmer. Goku questions why he is working when his family is supported by Mr. Satan, but Chi-Chi says that he must do hard work like a "normal" human. Goku and his family are invited by Mr. Satan to come to the opening of his hotel. At first, Goku is reluctant to go, but when he hears he may eat as much as he wants, he goes. When he gets to the hotel, he first has a little food competition with Vegeta, later when they are eating they feel the ki of two beings heading for earth, as a result Goku and the others go and check it out. They appear to be Gure and Tarble, the little brother of Vegeta, Tarble tells them two strong enemies and former servant's of Frieza are coming to Earth. Goku wants to fight them, but then the other fighters show that they want to fight too.

They then begin to argue until they agree to pick radishes; a game that declares the one with the longest radish as the winner, this is Trunks. When they go back to the hotel, Abo and Cado arrive. Goku tells Goten that he may help Trunks with his fight. Goten and Trunks defeat Abo and Cado, so Abo and Cado merge into Aka. Because of this, Goten and Trunks decide to fuse into Gotenks to even the match. After a short fight, Aka starts to overpower Gotenks with strong attacks. When Gotenks can not handle it anymore, Goku and Vegeta intervene after Aka launches a Super Wahaha no Ha. Goku plays a "dirty trick" on Vegeta, so he can fight alone and then goes Super Saiyan to do a Kamehameha on the energy attack Aka launched. The Kamehameha dissipates Aka's Super Wahaha no Ha. After that, Goku punches Aka in the gut, thus making Aka split up.

Afterward, they resume the banquet they were having before the arrival of Tarble and Gure. This time with the addition of Abo and Cado eating Goku's radish. As they eat, Goku and Vegeta begin to argue and turn Super Saiyan. It ends with everyone happily watching the argument except for Chi-Chi and Bulma.

God of Destruction Beerus and Golden Frieza Saga[]

    Goku and Kign Kai

Before the events leading up to Beerus' arrival, Goku hears that King Kai is on Snake Way wishing back his planet. On Snake Way, Porunga is summoned with the help of Grand Elder Moori. King Kai wants his planet to be bigger with less gravity and a race track but before he could speak, Goku interrupts him and tells Porunga to make his planet the same it was previous because it is good for training. After the wish is made and King Kai's planet has returned, Goku says he has to get home to do farm work quickly before Chi-Chi yells at him so he says bids him farewell.

    Goku, Goten and Mr. Satan

Four years after the defeat of Kid Buu in Age 778, Goku is working as a farmer in order to gain money by Chi-Chi's demand. Some point later, while plowing the field, Goten appears with lunch for Goku and Goku tells Goten to work the tractor while he eats. After he was finished eating, Goku starts training in Super Saiyan. However, Goku's training distracts Goten, causing Goten to fall off the mountainside. Goku quickly notices and uses Instant Transmission to save the tractor and Goten. He explains to Goten that he needs to watch what he's doing so that he could train in case a stronger foe than Kid Buu appears.

Goku training on King Kai's Planet

Later that day, Goten tells Goku that he and Trunks had gotten Videl a wedding gift, when Mr. Satan arrives to offer Goku 100 million zeni, as a way to say thank you for helping him defeat Buu. Goku initially declines, not understanding how large a sum 100 million zeni actually is and tells him to give it to Vegeta but Mr. Satan says that the Briefs are richer than he is. Goten reminds Goku that if he gave Chi-Chi all of the money, he could easily quit his job and go train with King Kai. At Mr. Satan and Goten's recommendation, Goku accepts the offer, and after talking with Chi-Chi, transports to King Kai's Planet to start his training.

Super Saiyan 3 Goku vs. Beerus

While training, Goku hears his name in a conversation between King Kai, Old Kai, and Kibito Kai to keep Goku away from the God of Destruction Beerus. Goku scares King Kai and gets paint all on him. To distract Goku from the conversation, King Kai brings up what Goku did, teleporting Cell to his planet, blowing it into bits, as a result causing King Kai's death. After being successfully distracted by Kais' conversation, Goku continues his training pushing tons of weights. Goku remembers that he was missing Bulma's birthday party and gets scared of what she might do. Goku starts to notice that King Kai was acting strange and wonders why. With King Kai frustrated, he slips the name Beerus and sparks Goku's interest. King Kai starts to explain to Goku Beerus' role in the universe: he is a god keeps balance in the universe and is the most fearsome god. This interests Goku even more, which makes Goku want to meet Beerus. King Kai senses Beerus' ki getting closer and encourages Goku to not do anything reckless and also tells him to hide in his house. Beerus arrives on King Kai's planet which strikes fear into King Kai.

    Goku defeated

Beerus asked Goku if he ever heard of the name Super Saiyan God but Goku denies. Beerus is disappointed and asks him if he was the one who defeated Frieza and Goku claims that he did as used the power of a Super Saiyan. Goku's power in his base was examined by Beerus and says that he's couldn't have beaten him unless he transformed. Goku is curious about Beerus's power and asks to have a battle with him. Beerus accepts to see the power of Goku. Goku immediately transforms into Super Saiyan as soon as he was ready. He charges Beerus but he shows no effort towards Goku. Goku quickly bores Beerus, making him want to leave. Goku turns Super Saiyan 2 and finally Super Saiyan 3 which surprises Beerus that Goku managed to surpass his limits. After Goku is defeated by Beerus, Goku is given a Senzu Bean by King Kai, recovering from his battle with Beerus.

    Beerus vs.Super Saiyan God Goku

After the battles of the Z Fighters and Beerus, Beerus decides that he should destroy planet Earth. Goku intervenes Beerus before he does so and asks for time to summon the Super Saiyan God. Beerus gave him the time he needed to use the Dragon Balls to summon Shenron. After Goten and Trunks laid out the Dragon Balls, Goku summoned Shenron and asks him if he knows of the Super Saiyan God. Goku in Satan City

After the battle with the God of Destruction Beerus, Goku wants to train on King Kai's planet but he has to continue farming because Chi-Chi has used the 100 million zeni on Goten's education and he has a granddaughter on the way. Goku is trying to get his tractor fixed by Bulma but no one is at home. He passes by Satan City where he sees a match between Mr. Satan and Galbee. Mr. Satan volunteers Goku to take on Galbee because he is scared to fight. While only in their fighting stances, Goku has to go because he sees Chi-Chi and Piccolo. She doesn't want him fighting and wants him to be a good grandfather for Gohan's upcoming daughter. At night time, Goku returns home, where he sees Goten and Chi-Chi there. Goku is hungry but doesn't want to go in because he doesn't want to be in trouble.

Chi-Chi doesn't want Goku training but he perseveres to try to. Goku waits impatiently, interrupting Bulma while she's doing activities. She eventually gives him a phone to get in contact with him when Whis shows up. After some time, Bulma calls and tells him that Whis has arrived on Earth. Goku goes to Capsule Corporation where Whis and Bulma are eating with each other. Whis agrees to take Goku to train with him but he has to wait because Whis went to Earth to eat. As Whis finished, he is ready to leave but Chi-Chi is approaching in the arms of Gohan. Goku rushes to leave with Whis so he wouldn't get in trouble.

    Goku and Vegeta vs. Whis

Goku and Whis are approaching Beerus' Planet. When they get there, Goku is happy to see Vegeta and notices that he's gotten stronger since being trained by Whis for six months. Whis gives Goku a new gi because Vegeta received a new one from Bulma. Goku and Vegeta used weights to train. They both had to carry their weight and travel along a path before they get lost in another dimension if they fall off. Later that day, Goku and Vegeta go to their room to prepare to go to sleep. Goku says that he doesn't want to do the housework but he still wants to keep training. Goku falls asleep moments after. The next day, Goku and Vegeta are sparring against Whis to hit him. Their match is stopped because they lacked the speed to keep up. Whis starts to tell Goku and Vegeta their weaknesses and says that Goku is too calm in his fights and could lead him to fail in the end.

When Frieza has been revived, Goku senses a huge power from Earth doesn't know what it is. Goku is told by Vegeta to ignore and continue doing housework. Goku and Vegeta are training when their sparring match has been ceased by Whis because they were just throwing blows at each other. Beerus points out that Goku and Vegeta have gotten stronger and wants to fight them. Goku says that he and Vegeta are still below Beerus in power and are no match for him. Beerus suggests to send Goku and Vegeta to That Place so they can train to get stronger quicker. While in that place, Goku and Vegeta cannot move until Vegeta figures out that they shouldn't have their ki leaking out. They also recognize that the place they're in is similar to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber but filled with godly ki and no signs of an exit.

    Goku, Vegeta, Sorbet and Frieza

Without knowing where to go, Goku and Vegeta go towards Whis' staff.

Upon returning his staff, all of the pizza has been eaten because Goku and Vegeta needed to eat or they would've starved and died. Beerus is furious with them so he chases them into the woods. Whis sees on his staff that he's received a message and recognizes Bulma. She tells him that Frieza has come back and she needs Goku and Vegeta. Goku is trying to use Instant Transmission to get to Earth but he can't sense anybody's ki. When Gohan fully powers up into a Super Saiyan, Goku is able to sense it. Goku holds out his hand for Vegeta to grab hold but Vegeta grabs a hold of his shoulder. Goku speaks with Gohan to congratulate him for summoning them so Goku could use Instant Transmission. Goku also tells him that he'll wish Piccolo back with the Namekian Dragon Balls.

    Goku vs. Frieza (Final Form)

He then instantly teleports Piccolo to the Lookout for Goten and Trunks to explain to Dende what transpired. Goku wonders how Frieza was resurrected and was told by Vegeta that the Dragon Balls have been used. Frieza begins to explain his torturous times in Earth's Hell, which has no meaning to Goku. Frieza then leaves his hover pod to further power up to combat Goku. Frieza transforms into his final form and in the process, he kills the rest of his army. Goku wishes that he goes first against Frieza because Vegeta has taken out Ginyu. Frieza is waiting for Goku to transform into a Super Saiyan but Goku says that that power is not needed yet.

Goku is impressed of the new transformation and says that Frieza, who is not impressed, should not act tough about it. Super Saiyan Blue Goku

After a seemingly even conflict, Frieza gains the upper hand and knocks Goku down to the ground, leaving the Saiyan surprised saying he took years of training to reach his current level but Frieza caught on like it's nothing. Frieza applauds his efforts but promises to tear him to shreds but the sight of Lord Beerus stops him for the moment. They resume their duel once more and once again Frieza gains the upper hand, leaving Goku exhausted and critically injured. Despite the fact that Goku is losing, he refuses to give up in the fight. Vegeta suggested that he and Goku switch places and that he would kill Frieza himself but Goku declines. After Frieza's weakness is revealed, Goku is caught with his guard down when he is shot through the chest with a Bad Laser Beam from Sorbet.

    Goku's God Kamehameha

After Vegeta scolds Goku for beign careless, he kicks him towards the location of Krillin, Gohan, and the others so that he can use the last Senzu Bean on him and with that a success, Goku thanks Vegeta for saving him and allows him to finish their fight with Frieza. Goku later explains to his friends that Vegeta too achieved his new Super Saiyan Blue form on his form thanks to his own power. When Frieza blows up the Earth, Goku and his friends (except Vegeta) are shielded by Whis and they can only stand by and watch as their beloved home world goes down in flames. Blaming himself for this happening Goku regrets not killing Frieza right away until Whis offered to use his Temporal Do-Over to turn back time to before the incident happened and he accepted his offer. As soon as the technique is finished, Goku turns into a Super Saiyan Blue once more and charges up a Kamehameha so powerful that it destroys Frieza and sends him back to Earth's Hell. Vegeta shows up behind him afterwards and gives him a harsh scolding but Goku explained he had no choice so Bulma and the others explained everything towards him.

    Vegeta and Goku

Goku then heads back to the Lookout to pick up Goten and Trunks and gather the Namekian Dragon Balls to revive Piccolo. He then explains to Piccolo what happened after he died and laughed after hearing Trunks saying he'll cut Frieza in half (a reference to what Future Trunks did to Frieza before the present Trunks was born). Goku then enjoys the feast Bulma threw and the food served in it. He later talks to Vegeta about planning to work together next time but Vegeta disagrees to that, and surprisingly, Goku agrees.

When they both get back, Goku is told that the Universe 6 has their own Earth and the Earthlings were wiped out by war. Champa challenges Beerus to a five on five Tournament of Destroyers for the Universe 7's Earth, which makes Goku excited.

    Vegeta, Piccolo and Goku

After Whis explains why Beerus and Champa don't fight each other anymore, they discuss the details for the tournament. The rules will be the same as the Tenkaichi Budokai and will be in five Earth days on the Nameless Planet at 10 a.m. If Champa won, he will use the Super Dragon Balls to switch the universes' Earths. Goku, seeing that Hit is more powerful than he thought, now unveils his new technique, the Kaio-Ken form while in Super Saiyan Blue. Goku notes the chances of him doing it is roughly 10% and failure will likely kill him and explains what Kaio-Ken is. Goku explains that combining the Kaio-ken technique with his Super Saiyan Blue form is possible due to the form's required calm mind and perfect innate ki control, and he did not attempt to combine it with the previous Super Saiyan forms because they were too rough on his body and he would have died. Goku then powers it up ten times and goes on the assault, totally outclassing Hit but notes his body is starting to give out so Goku fires a Kamehameha at Hit. Hit however survives and the fight continues.

    Zeno meeting Goku

After reviving Roshi, Goku regroups with Vegeta and Tien, joining the fight between Gohan, Piccolo, and Prum and Harmira. Goku and Vegeta try to put pressure on Prum with their ki wave attacks, but find that he is able to reflect them effortlessly as he has been doing with Harmira's Sniper Shots. Goku and Vegeta are able to pressure Prum by throwing rocks at him, while Tien and Hermila eliminate eachother. As Prum is distracted by Dr. Rota, Vegeta eliminates both with a Galick Gun. Goku then watches in awe as Jiren effortlessly eliminates Maji Kayo. Goku then goes to assist Master Roshi in his fight with Frost, but is intercepted by Ribrianne.

Android 17, Goku and Android 18

An exhausted Goku is then cornered by the remaining warriors of Team Universe 2. As Ribrianne and Rozie are forced to fight Androids 17 and 18, Goku is triple-teamed by Zirloin, Zarbuto, and Rabanra. He holds his own until the three fighters transform and gain the Kamikaze Fireballs' powers. At that point, 17 and 18 join Goku, and Goku is left to fight Zirloin one on one. The three remaining Universe 2 fighters are pushed to the edge and attempt to use the Pretty Black Hole on Goku, 17, and 18. This, however, does not work as Goku utilizes Super Saiyan Blue and fires a Kamehameha which overpowers the attack and finishes off Team Universe 2 as Gohan and Piccolo simultaneously finish off Team Universe 6. Goku (Super Saiyan God) & Frieza (Final Form)

Goku and Vegeta combine their attacks to stall Koichiarator long enough for Gohan to prepare a Kamehameha. However, Paparoni fuses with Koichiarator to create the enormous monster Anilaza. This new fused warrior immediately gains the advantage, nearly knocking Goku out if not for timely help from Frieza. Goku, Vegeta, Android 17, Gohan, and Frieza attempt to combine their attacks to defeat Anilaza, but it proves not to be enough to defeat him, and only Android 17's idea to attack Anilaza's energy reactor leads to the monster's defeat and Universe 3's erasure.

Vegeta (Evolved Super Saiyan Blue) and Goku (Kaio-ken Super Saiyan Blue) vs Jiren

Vegeta interrupts the fight, intending to challenge Jiren himself. Goku and Vegeta take turns attacking Jiren, but neither can hold their own at first. Vegeta, however, soon finds a way to strike Jiren, and Goku is then left to watch Vegeta fight. He is amazed at Vegeta's strength when he prepares to use a Final Flash, but is left shocked and worried when Jiren survives and severely wounds Vegeta. Goku jumps back into the fight afterwards. Despite various tactics and coming close to victory, Jiren recovers from Goku's onslaught and increase his battle power, which makes him strong enough that the shockwave of a single punch can knock Goku out of Super Saiyan Blue. However, Goku states that he cannot afford a loss. He activates Super Saiyan Blue in combination with the Kaio-ken, and watches as Vegeta powers up to Evolved Super Saiyan Blue. Despite there effectiveness Jiren is eventually able to turn things around for himself and regain control. After a few minute Jiren get's annoyed at Toppo for struggling with Android 17 and Frieza so Jiren fires a blast at them to get them away and allows Top to fight Vegeta while Jiren himself takes Goku. After Top is defeated by Vegeta, Goku is slapped aside by Jiren who commends Vegeta for beating Jiren and not giving up who he is and powers up to full power. The trio of Goku, Vegeta and 17 are not able to make any progress but 17 is able to sneak up on Jiren and actually hurt him which finally allows Goku to see Jiren's weakness, which ironically is Goku's own flaw of getting far more injured then usual if he drops his guard.

    Goku and Vegeta vs. Jiren

The trio try to recreate the opening for 17 to damage Jiren again but to no avail and the trio is blasted and heavily injured by Jiren but are rescued by Frieza, who has snapped and angry at Jiren for his attack earlier and vows to simply kill Jiren and to hell with the rules. Jiren slaps Frieza aside but is saved by 17. After hearing of Jiren's origin 17 mocks Jiren's wish and view on life and how he see's the Pride Troopers as a means to his own goal. Striking a nerve Jiren attacks 17 but 17 is able to hold him off but not for long. Jiren goes to finish the fight and blasts them with a giant ki ball but 17 jumps in the way and blocks it with numerous barriers. Goku and Android 18 frantically tell 17 to run, with Goku believing 17 can actually win but 17 says he is giving up his wish and wraps both Goku and Vegeta in a barrier and and tells them he hopes he bought them enough time and smiles at them one last time before killing himself to stop Jiren's attack. As Goku and Vegeta fall to a lower section of the destroyed ring. Goku thanks 17 for his sacrifice before collapsing exhausted still. Vegeta pulls himself up and realizes 17 had no desire to win and was only here to sacrifice himself if need be.

    Goku (Ultra Instinct - Sign)

Despite being exhausted, Vegeta attempts to stop Jiren but fails every attempt. Beaten, battered and heavily bruised Vegeta finally falls to Jiren. On his way out Vegeta gives all of his remaining energy to Goku in hopes he can do it. Goku understanding is now able to hop up to his feet and goes Super Saiyan Blue as Jiren wonders why they trust Goku so much. Goku, annoyed and angry at Jiren for his view of the world says he wouldn't understand and attacks Jiren. Despite momentary success Goku is beat back into base form where he tries again and to Jiren's astonishment is still able to keep up with him but Goku is beaten back to the edge of the ring.  Exhausted, Goku struggles to stand as Vegeta screams out to him along with everyone else. Before Jiren's strike lands, Goku vanishes into thin air. A bewildered Jiren looks around and finds Goku having reawakened into Ultra Instinct again, with this time a few Supreme Kai's believing Goku himself awakened the power this time and has finally awakened into true Ultra Instinct which causes the other gods to marvel at Goku's power. Jiren, not impressed, attacks as Goku casually dodges his blows and responds with a simple body strike that heavily injures Jiren, doubling him over. The bout between the two continues until a breaking point where Jiren raises his energy to a level that blows even Goku's newfound heights of Ultra Instinct away, but Vegeta, having just berated the gods themselves for not having faith in Goku, yells at him from the sidelines to never give up and keep fighting telling him he has placed his pride and promise to the Saiyans in him and tells him failure to win is unacceptable for him. Thanks to his rival's words of encouragement, Goku is able to flip around and stop Jiren's assault and resume the fight but this time he closes his eyes and concentrates on focusing his heart and soul into the fight and suddenly begins to overwhelm Jiren, with Whis smiling on realizing what is happening.

    Goku powering up

Before Goku can take a clear advantage Jiren powers up more and blasts Goku to the boundary of being eliminated and barrages him with thousands of punches with Goku only being able to block. With everyone believing it is over Beerus tells them to shut up and watch. At this moment Toppo notices Goku is actually fighting back and shortly completely overpowers Jiren's assault, landing another devastating punch that has Jiren reeling heavily as Goku begins to unleash more power. Jiren, for the first time in decades actually smiles and decides says he should show Goku the same passion he is showing him and powers up more and throws his Power Impact at him, however before the attack lands it vanishes along with Goku, much to everyone's shock. Goku reappears behind Jiren now fully glowing white having caught what could've been the final Power Impact from Jiren, dispelling it with ease as a new, brighter aura envelops him, making it impossible to see his face. Jiren attempts to strike Goku but fails everytime, unable to see Goku's movements, Goku's shirt dissipates into shreds and his aura softens a bit to reveal his mastery of Ultra Instinct, as he stares Jiren down with silver eyes as Whis and Beerus smile on, both confirming Goku has finally mastered Ultra Instinct.

    Goku (Ultra Instinct) vs. Jiren

Goku instantly engages Jiren, whom is unable to even land a blow on Goku. Calmly dominating his opponent in battle, Jiren angrily claims strength is absolute and to go against that would to be go against what he had strived for his whole life, and manages to break through his own limits. Jiren then engages Goku in battle, managing to fight on par with the newly-empowered Saiyan. Goku is knocked down many times, yet he always gets up, which causes Jiren to curiously ask how he has that much stamina and strength. Ultra Instinct Goku then charges a Kamehameha, which Jiren responds with an overwhelmingly powerful Power Impact. Goku, despite his newfound might, is overwhelmed by Jiren in their beam struggle, who possesses greater raw power than the Saiyan. Goku is knocked to the ground and Jiren believes he is knocked unconscious. However, Goku rises once more, much to Jiren's surprise. The Saiyan knees the Pride Trooper in the stomach but is knocked away and blasted to the ground by a ki blast. Despite the sheer ferocity of Jiren's attack, Goku manages to rise once more, shocking Jiren, who states he should be completely out of stamina. Goku then explains that through his friends and family, he is able to push himself far beyond his limits to further increase his own power. Goku then collides with the Jiren in a mighty exchange of blows, gradually overwhelming the mighty Pride Trooper. Goku then manages to knock Jiren through one of the mountains in the arena, before telling Jiren the power he possesses is the power of his family and friends.

    Goku engulfed in Dark Ki

Accepting defeat, Jiren asks Goku to finish it, and the Saiyan responds, charging a ki blast. However, before he can knock Jiren off, he is suddenly struck in the back by agonizing pain, causing him to collapse on the ground, struggling to stand as dark bolts of ki engulf him. Suddenly, the pain explodes, causing Goku to writhe and scream in agony. Whis notes that the limit-breaking power of the gods has been too much for Goku's body to sustain, causing him to suffer greatly and revert back to his base form. Jiren, emboldened by Vermoud's words to finish Goku off, charges a ki blast and, admitting he would always remember Goku, blasts Goku right out of the arena, sending him flying. However, before Goku can be eliminated, a kiai hits his back, sending him flying into a floating rock. Golden Frieza stands there, revealing that he saved Goku once more. Android 17 also crawls out of a crack, saying he managed to survive despite the risks. They vow to take Goku's place and finish Jiren off despite the mighty Pride Trooper acting unconcerned.

Frieza and Goku knocking out Jiren

Although drained from using Ultra Instinct, Goku continues the battle alongside his two remaining teammates, boosting Frieza into the air to help him tackle Jiren with his Nova Strike, although Jiren breaks free. Eventually, with a surprising team effort, Goku and Frieza tackle Jiren offstage, with Goku going Super Saiyan and Frieza using his full power to ensure they bring him down with them. Goku later watches as Android 17 wishes the erased universes back, and heads down onto the ruined stage to meet him there.

Vegeta (Super Saiyan Blue) vs Goku (Super Saiyan Blue)

At Beerus' request, Whis restored Frieza's life permanently as a reward for his assistance. Frieza claimed he would not change his evil ways, but Goku vowed that he would defeat him if he caused trouble again. After Goku and the others returned to Earth, they all had a big celebration at Capsule Corp. Vegeta eventually challenged Goku to another sparring match and their clash brought them to the same wasteland where they had their first fight many years ago. When Vegeta asked why Goku wasn't using his Ultra Instinct, Goku replied that he doesn't know how to use it at will. The two Saiyans then vowed to continue surpassing their limits.

    Dragon Ball Super: Broly (Movie)[]

    Goku eating

After the Tournament of Power In Age 780, Goku and Vegeta are sparring near Bulma's summer home, on an island far to the south of West City. Bulma is watching from a distance with Bulla. Whis is getting all worked up over some food, and Beerus is trying to take a nap. Bulma remarks that the island is otherwise uninhabited, so Goku and Vegeta don't have to worry about collateral damage, but Beerus gets angry when they wake him from his nap with their noise, so they take a break to join the others for food. Whis asks Goku why he is seeking even greater strength and Goku explains that it's just because he met incredible guys from other universes at the Tournament of Power. Whis then poses the same question to Vegeta, whose motivation is the imminent danger of Frieza.

    Vegeta and Goku

After learning that six of the Dragon Balls that Bulma had collected in her lab have been stolen , Goku, Vegeta and the others soon learn that it is in fact Frieza trying to collect the Dragon Balls. Vegeta and Goku senses that there is another powerful warrior aboard, but he doesn't know who it could be. They watch warily as Frieza and crew disembark, and as Broly steps off the ship, a wave of power seems to emanate from him, throwing up a wind that causes Goku and Vegeta to shield themselves. Once everyone has exited the ship, Vegeta recognizes that Paragus and Broly are Saiyans, and Paragus shakes as he recognizes Vegeta based on his resemblance to his father. Goku asks Frieza what's going on, and Frieza says he's just here for the Dragon Balls, which Bulma yells at Goku and Vegeta, telling them to go get the Dragon Balls back, but Whis tells her it's too late for that now as this has become a warrior-race party, much to his delight. Goku again demands to know what Frieza is up to, so Frieza explains: these are his companions, Broly and his father. They are Saiyans, though Frieza is sure they have already figured this out. Paragus comes forward and introduces himself by name. Freeza goes on: when Vegeta was still a child, his father exiled Broly to an inhospitable planet where he and his father were stranded until Frieza found and rescued them. Paragus declares that he has come to avenge the sins of the father upon the son, but Vegeta doesn't care about that. Goku says it doesn't matter anyway since they're all Saiyans so they should just fight.

Goku (Super Saiyan God) vs Broly (Wrathful)

After Paragus orders Broly to attack he goes straight for Vegeta. After fighting Vegeta, Goku's interruption angers Broly, but Goku starts warming up as Broly powers up. They trade a few blows, and then Goku fires a Kamehameha Blaster, but Broly isn't fazed; he punches Goku deep into a mountain and follows him down the hole, harrying him out through the other side. Broly attacks Goku, who isn't really keeping up, and hasn't been since the fight started, so he decides to go Super Saiyan. He's still outmatched, but he manages to get one up on Broly by teleporting behind him and catching him by surprise. This advantage doesn't last long, though. Broly quickly reasserts the upper hand, knocking Goku into a mountain once again. Goku hasn't given up yet, but then Broly screams in anger, attacks, and before he can land a hit, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan God.

    Goku and Vegeta

Broly goes even deeper to draw out more power as he seems to grow larger by the minute, and while Goku is landing attacks, he isn't really getting anywhere. Watching from above, Cheelai is overwhelmed by Broly's power. Lemo thinks Broly isn't himself, though, and Cheelai has to agree. Goku continues to struggle, and Cheelai laments that this is only happening because the gentle-hearted Broly is a slave to his father's obsessive drive. During the fight with Broly, we see Piccolo meditating far away and communicating telepathically with Goku. Piccolo is his escape plan. Broly is losing patience, and Goku manages to stand up. If things go south, he can use Piccolo to teleport away from the battlefield, and Piccolo realizes that, for Goku of all people to have an escape plan, things must be really bad. Goku laughs, and agrees. He rips off his orange shirt and begins to transform into Super Saiyan Blue. After Paragus is killed, Broly goes into a rage and transforms into a Super Saiyan, forcing both Goku and Vegeta to fight together while transformed into Super Saiyan Blue.

    Goku, Vegeta and Piccolo

After escaping using Instant Transmission Goku suggests the Fusion Dance Technique in order to defeat Broly. Unfortunately, Piccolo doesn't have any, so Goku asks Vegeta if he knows about Fusion. Vegeta says yes, he knows about it from Trunks; it's that technique where you merge by dancing like a fool. Goku confirms, and demonstrates the poses. Vegeta angrily refuses to do any such thing. Goku tells him it's only for 30 minutes, and besides, they've done it before with the Potara. Since they don't have Potara handy, they have no choice but to use the Fusion Dance. Vegeta thinks he might be able to survive fusing with Goku again, but those silly poses are another story! Goku corrects his pose technique and says they don't have a choice; the Earth will be destroyed if they don't stop Broly. Vegeta eventually agrees to learn Fusion.

Broly (Legendary Super Saiyan) vs. Gogeta Blue

After Becoming Gogeta he returns back to the battle. Frieza lies indented in the side of a rock formation with Broly having gone elsewhere, and in awe of Broly's power despite himself. Suddenly, Gogeta appears; Frieza demands to know who he is, and Gogeta explains that he is the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, and that he's much stronger than the two of them added together. Gogeta wastes no time teleporting to Broly's new location. Having seemingly lost interest in smacking Frieza around, Broly had begun fighting Whis in the absence of Goku and Vegeta, but Whis is merely toying with the crazed Super Saiyan while Bulma watches from behind a glowing rock. Whis lazily dodges Broly's attacks until Gogeta appears in front of him. Whis recognizes what he is instantly, but he is surprised to learn that Goku and Vegeta had the ability to fuse without the Potara earrings. Bulma is not confused and figures out they must have used the Fusion Dance. Broly appears in front of them. Gogeta tells Broly to come fight him, and immediately attacks. Gogeta is doing fine, but he decides he needs to transform, so he goes up to Super Saiyan. Broly doesn't stand a chance and Gogeta absolutely dominates him until he's screaming in fury. After Broly transforms into a Legendary Super Saiyan, Gogeta transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue and easily dominates the Legendary Super Saiya in battle. Before Gogeta could finish off Broly, Cheelai asks Shenron to send Broly to the planet where they found him. Gogeta's Kamehameha shoots off harmlessly into space. Gogeta watches as Broly is wished away by the power of Shenron.

    Broly and Goku

3 days later on Planet Vampa, Goku visits Broly, Cheelai & Lemo and in a act of kindness, he gives them an assortment of items that could help them survive the harsh conditions on Vampa. Still suspicious, they admire the new shelter upon seeing it inside. Goku explains the senzu beans to the group, as he hypothesizes that Broly could be stronger than Beerus, the God of Destruction he mentions. Goku then explains to the group that he Instantly Transmitted to Broly's ki, as they still do not process what he was saying. Goku surmises his return so he can engage Broly in another bout, if the group does not wander too far. Broly seems to like the idea of fighting Goku again. As he prepares for his departure, Cheelai asks for his name, in response, Goku, having accepted his Saiyan heritage, pronounces his name to them as "Son Goku" but he tells Broly to call him "Kakarot".

    Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga[]

    Merus knocks out Goku

Following the ordeal surrounding Broly, Goku trains with Vegeta in the Gravity Training Room. When asked about Ultra Instinct, Goku says that he hasn't been able to pull it off since the tournament. Bulma contacts the two and tells them that Mr. Satan had called because a mysterious gang was attempting to kidnap Good Buu to which the Saiyan pair make their way over using their own means of transport. At Satan House, Mr. Satan attempts to stop a group of people boarding Buu onto their spaceship when Goku and Vegeta show up. Goku attacks the kidnappers and with no choice Merus, the leader, uses his stun gun to put Goku and Vegeta to sleep and tells his men to take them along as well.

    Merus, Jaco, Goku and Vegeta

Goku awakens to see Jaco and finds himself now on the Galactic Patrol HQ spaceship. Merus appears and apologizes for his actions and explains that a dangerous criminal has broken free of the Galactic Prison  and in order to recapture him they need the assistance of the Daikaioh. After learning of Moro, Goku and Vegeta offer to help them catch Moro and The Galactic King bestows upon them the role of temporary special members of the Galactic Patrol with their insignia being attached to their own clothing. After attempting to find Moro's Chi, Goku tells Vegeta that Moro could sense that he was being searched for and that while his Ki wasn't particularly large it was terrifying beyond what he'd ever felt. Merus explains that it is a result of his ability to absorb the life force of planets which he can then use as his own power and why he has lived for so long. Goku realizes that Moro appears to be heading toward New Namek though is unsure how he could know of it's location due to it being kept a secret. through Instant Transmission, The two Saiyans arrive at the planet just in time for Moro to land. Goku warns Moori of the current events and the Namekians soon grab the Dragon Balls and flee the area.

    Vegeta and Goku

As the fight against Moro begins, Goku points out Moro's ability to absorb life energy, something he had recently attempted to do with the Esca. Moro says that he will be using the same technique albeit with a different application. Moro summons a wave of energy upwards out of the ground from the very planet itself which catches Vegeta by surprise and makes him falter. Moro explains that the attack is not just from his power alone but also from New Namek. With both Goku and Vegeta completelt drained of strength they are forced to retreat. Goku attempts to teleport himself and Vegeta back to the Galactic Patrol but doesn't have energy.

    Moro vs Goku and Vegeta

Three days later on Namek, Moori watches over Goku and Vegeta, who have slightly recovered due to Esca using his healing powers on them. They are informed that while asleep, Moro had attacked three villages and obtained their Dragon Balls. Just then they feel the impact of Moro's power as he begins to attacks Tsuburi's village. As Goku laments his inability to help, Moori tells him that they have assimilation as a last resort. Several dozen of the strongest Namekian warriors from each village combined together to form a mighty warrior who heads to the village to confront Moro however he is immediately killed in a single strike before he is unable to do anything. Moro, now having six of the Dragon Balls in his possession heads to the location of the final ball. Goku and Vegeta sense Moro heading for their location and they both head out to confront him. Moro arrives only to be surprised to see the two Saiyans still alive but vows to make sure that they will die this time. Goku and Vegeta charge towards Moro, still injured, only to be intercepted by a Galactic Patrol Spaceship. Merus riding on top, shoots down the ship carrying Moro. Moro flies out through the roof only to be pursued by Irico piloting the ship. Merus closes in on Moro and using one of his weapons fires a substance that covers Moro's body and entraps him from within.

Grand Supreme Kai, Goku and Vegeta

With Goku and Vegeta still unable to defeat Moro, thet later witness Buu fighting against him. As Goku watches on, he notes that Buu appears to be stronger than before. Merus wonders if it has something to do with his potential being unleashed after his memories were recently unlocked. with two wishes granted by Moro, Goku and Vegeta arrive at the location alogn with the Galactic Patrol and Buu before his disappearance. Just then the planet begins to shake as Moro has begun to suck all the energy out from the planet. Buu restores Goku and Vegeta to their full strength but when Goku turns to thank him he see's the Grand Supreme Kai standing there instead. He explains that until Moro is defeated he will be swapping places with Buu and that they can still save New Namek if they confront Moro together. Goku prepares his Instant Transmission as he, Vegeta and the Grand Supreme Kai teleport to Moro.

Goku teleports himself, Vegeta and Grand Supreme Kai to Moro's location on the verge of New Namek's atmosphere but is unable to continue the fight when Moro heads out further into space. After Merus assists Grand Supreme Kai and gives him the opportunity to grab hold of him, Moro is teleported back to New Namek where Goku and Vegeta await him. Moro informs the two of his third wish, to have all the prisoners from the Galactic Prison go free and they soon appear by his side having used a spaceship to get there. Moro shares his power with the prisoners, putting them into an empowered state before they gang up on Goku, Vegeta and Grand Supreme Kai but they get overpowered. However when Moro begins to absorb up their energy once again, the Saiyans and Kai begin to struggle. With the planet on the verge of destruction, Goku uses his Instant Transmission to teleport all of his allies but Vegeta, who chooses to go his separate way, back to Galactic Patrol Headquarters

After a few more days, Goku hears from Merus that Moro has grown even stronger and now stand virtually no chance of victory against him. Goku asks if this were to be true even if Merus were to be fighting seriously and he decides to give Merus a little test. He throws a punch at Merus which he effortlessly dodges even though Goku had meant for it to connect. Wanting to get a true feel for Merus' power the two move to a training room for a sparring session but even after progressing through Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 3, Goku is still unable to land a hit on Merus. He asks Merus to train him believing that by doing so he could potentially master the Ultra Instinct that may be needed to defeat Moro. Merus agrees but suggests they can go elsewhere to train as the room can not withstand their power.

The training now in a halt, Merus reveals to Goku that he knew about Ultra Instinct all along and had a reason for keeping quiet about it much to Goku's surprise. Knowing that Merus is a good guy who has the same goal to defeating Moro, Goku doesn't mind Merus keeping his knowledge about Ultra Instinct quiet and proceeds to resume their training to learn this ability but Merus tells Goku to follow him inside a pyramid where he leads him to a room that resembles the Hyperbolic Time Chamber much to Goku's recognition. Merus tells Goku that 1 day that passes outside of the room is equivalent to 3 days inside of the room much to Goku's disappointment that they will only have 3 days to train but considers extra time better than no time. Merus reveals to Goku that the main reason why he brought him to the room is so that he can unleash his full power without anyone finding out about it.

During a break in the training to eat, Merus informs Goku of the news of Moro's men visiting Earth. Merus tells Goku that he has two months (six months in the room) before Moro himself heads to the planet and then continue their training. Two months later, with time almost up, Goku and Merus decide to have one last spar at full strength but they are interrupted by Whis who teleports them outside and reveals Merus as his younger brother and Angel. Before Whis takes Merus back to his realm, he tells Goku that he faith that he will defeat Moro. After they leave, Goku realises he has been left alone with just a Galactic Patrol ship that he would have to pilot himself and shouts for the Angels to come back. At some point, he gets lost on the way back to Earth and stops off of at a nearby planetoid to ask some locals for directions.

As he gets closer to Earth, he begins to sense the battles taking place and his friends in trouble. He tries to use his Instant Transmission to teleport to them but is unable to get a hold of them until he senses Krillin's spiking chi. Arriving on Earth, just as the fusion of Miza, Kikaza and Iwaza are going in to finish off Krillin and Master Roshi, Goku knocks her out cold with a single attack before turning to Krillin and apologising for showing up late. When Krillin asks Goku if he thinks he can beat Moro, he says yes even though he could still be hiding some of his power. Goku teleports to Tien, Yamcha and Chiaotzu - who are losing their battle with Zauyogi - and proceeds to take down their foe in an instant. Yamcha informs Goku that Gohan and the others need him, and so Goku teleports away once more.

Angered by Saganbo's needless death, Goku vows that he will kill Moro for what he's done and unveils his new ability - Ultra Instinct Sign - which a shocked Moro recognizes as a technique of the gods. As the two get into battle positions, Goku throws a multitude of punches from a standstill position that act as air blasts which Moro has to block. Darting in close, Goku's heightened agility allows him to pressure Moro who in return attempts to immobilise him. Goku soon breaks free and charges forward, powering up a Kamehameha but turns away from Moro at the last second, realising that it is an illusion and fires the wave at the real Moro before continuing into an aerial battle. Goku begins to gain more of an edge until Moro uses his magic to draw him in close and the two land a hard simultaneous blow.

As both Goku and Moro begin to use their full strength, their auras begin to collide. Goku's wins out and he is able to push Moro back and the two fight an evenly matched battle until Goku knocks Moro down. After standing back up, Moro admits that he had been too cautious earlier and will not lose to Goku if that is the true extent of his power. As Goku begins to slow down after having reached his limit, Moro gains a clear edge in battle. Goku attempts one last desperate push to increase his power beyond his limits but Moro soundly begins to beat Goku down until he drops out of his Ultra Instinct Sign form.

    Uub vs Goku

Ten years after the defeat of the evil, pure Majin Buu, Goku kept training despite the fact that Earth was at peace. He is training with his youngest son, Goten. When the tournament comes around, Goku forces Goten to cancel his date to enter and Goten shows disdain toward Goku's ruling. During the 28th Tenkaichi Budōkai Goku battles Majin Buu's reincarnation, Uub, who was born after King Yemma heard his request made ten years ago. However, Uub was experiencing an extreme bout of stage fright, so Goku was forced to make several insults towards his family and obscene gestures to try and get him angry enough to fight and overcome his fear.

Goku and Uub leaving for training

After a short, yet intense battle, Goku apologizes and explains to Uub that his insults were simply meant to coax him into using his true power. Goku then takes Uub to train him to one day help in being the protector of the planet, although he later tells Uub that after the training, he desires to fight him again not only to discover the strongest out of the two, but the strongest in the entire universe. Then they fly off in the distance.

    Uub and Goku

5 years in Age 789, Goku has finished training Uub and together they travel to Kami's Lookout to fight and test out their abilities against one another in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. After Uub returns back his village, Goku is accidentally wished back into a child by a aged Emperor Pilaf along with his aged henchmen, Mai and Shu. As a result, Goku must travel the galaxy and return them to Earth to prevent the planet from exploding from the negative energy created by the wish.

    Dende, Goku and Mr. Popo

After leaving Earth in the spaceship designed by Bulma, a piece of the ship falls off and Goku, Trunks, and Pan are forced to crash land on the planet Imecka to get the parts needed to repair the ship. Groups of merchants swarm Goku and the others and they have to go to the gold star hotel to hide from the swarms of sellers. They then realize they are being charged every second for everything in the hotel including the lights. They escape without paying and stumble upon the house of an old couple and their children. They talk about Don Kee, the ruler of the planet, and how he mistreats his people. Just then, Don Kee's men come and repossess the old couple's house saying they were behind on payment. Goku suggests that they go and fight Don Kee, but the couple says that is impossible because of his grand army. On their way back to the ship Trunks drops the Dragon Radar and it is swallowed by a small robot named T-2006, nicknamed Giru, who says that he can not give the radar back to them because it is already integrated into his system.

    Pan, Trunks and Goku

Meanwhile, Goku notices the ship being dragged away by Don Kee's men. He tries to use Instant Transmission to teleport them to the ship, but after two failed attempts, he realizes that he can not use it with his small body. They are forced to travel to Don Kee's palace on foot to recover their ship. Pan decides that they will use a stealth operation to recover the ship and would only result to fighting as a last resort. After briefly sneaking around, a large rock falls on Trunks' head and Giru starts making noises that alarm the guards. The guards open fire on Goku and the others and Pan says that they must fight now, so Goku agrees. Pan jumps in the carrying car while Goku moves the ship onto the car and Pan drives the ship out of the palace with Goku and Trunks. While escaping, Don Kee's henchmen Gale and Sheela fire a combined Energy Wave at Goku, but Goku deflects it back with ease towards Ledgic, Don Kee's right-hand man who recognizes them as Saiyans. Goku and the others escape, but Trunks says they have to go back into town for more parts due to Pan's "reckless driving".

    Goku (Super Saiyan) vs Ledgic

Once they reach the town, everyone hides and Trunks finds the three of them on Imecka's most wanted list. While running from Don Kee's soldiers, they fall into the house of a nice old couple who offer them food after realizing Goku and company mean no harm. They say that Don Kee made it a law that no one is allowed to own a ship so that no one would escape the planet including the old couple. Pan gets fed up and convinces Goku and Trunks to go face Don Kee head on. They turn themselves into the police and get brought to the palace. Once there, Goku, Trunks, and Pan incapacitate Gale, Sheela, and all of Don Kee's guards. Then Goku blasts his way into Don Kee's throne-room. Don Kee sicks Ledgic on the fighters after capturing Pan in an energy chamber. Ledgic says that he will fight Goku, but for his own satisfaction. After a short fight, Goku defeats Ledgic as a Super Saiyan and they take down Don Kee and make him give everyone free rent and give them back their ships free of charge. Plus Don Kee gives them the parts they need for free and they leave Imecka. They then land on an unnamed planet where everything is larger than life. Goku finds the Four Star Ball in the tooth of a giant and they go to the next planet.

    Goku and Doma

On planet Gelbo, they find the Six-Star Dragon Ball in the hair of the princess of the village, Leena. Trunks asks for the ball, but her fiancé Doma said that they were in a large problem already. The amphibian creature Zoonama was threatening the village with his power to create earthquakes and volcano eruptions by shaking his whiskers if they did not give him a wife. Goku decides that he would help them out in exchange for the Dragon Ball and they agree. Pan comes up with the idea to disguise Goku as Leena, but it does not work out, so Trunks poses as Leena instead. Zoonama comes and starts getting impatient waiting for Leena and threatens to shake his whiskers. Then Trunks arrives dressed as Leena and Zoonama takes him to his layer. Trunks gets Zoonama tipsy and Goku arrives with Pan and Doma. Doma slices off Zoonama's left whisker with a huge pair of scissors and as he cuts off the left one, Zoonama awakens in a drunken rage. He begins to wiggle his whiskers and an earthquake begins to come, but stops soon after while Zoonama continues to wiggle his whisker. Pan realizes that he can not cause earthquakes, he can only predict them. But now he is so tipsy that he did not realize that the quake was over. Suddenly a really big earthquake erupts and Goku and the others leave the cavern with Zoonama. Goku then stops the huge volcano with a Kamehameha, saving the city and winning the Dragon Ball. Just as they are leaving the planet, Bon Para, one of the mysterious Para Brothers, arrives and takes the ball from Pan's hands using his telekinesis. In shock, the three Z Fighters just watch as he leaves.

    Goku vs Luud (Full Power)

Goku then jumps in the ship with Pan and Trunks and they chase after the Para Brothers' spaceship. The brothers trick them onto the asteroid, Beehay, inhabited by huge bloodthirsty worm-like creatures called Mouma. The Para Brothers escape and fly to the planet Luud. They go to Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy, who tells them that they have failed and that Goku has another Dragon Ball on his ship that they failed to get and they must go retrieve it. They travel back to find Goku and the others and they get hypnotized by the Para Para Boogie until they are saved by the hungry Mouma after they wake up. Pan goes aboard the Para Brothers' ship to find the Dragon Ball that they stole. She accidentally activates the auto-pilot and is brought to Luud. There she is captured and turned into a doll for the evil lord, Dolltaki. Goku shows up with Trunks and kills Cardinal Mutchy Mutchy, who reveals that he is actually two parts the body and the whip transforms into Mutchie and fights Goku. Trunks finishes Mutchie off with the Brave Cannon and saves Goku from his whip arms. Then Dolltaki turns everyone except for Goku, himself, Trunks, and Pan into dolls and feeds them to the machine deity, Luud. Dolltaki then awakens Luud who takes him and Pan inside of his body to gain their energy. While Luud fights Goku and Trunks, Pan forces Dolltaki to tell her the weakness of the seemingly invincible Luud. Dolltaki reveals that Goku must strike the outside of Luud's mechanical heart while Pan strikes the inside at exactly the same time. After multiple tries, Goku finally succeeds and destroys Luud freeing all of the people including Pan who is turned back to normal. Goku then takes back his Dragon Ball and they leave the planet.

    Goku vs General Rilldo

As our heroes arrive on the supposedly deserted planet M-2, they continue on their quest for the Black Star Dragon Balls. They find themselves caught in a trap by the planet's inhabitants, mutant robots, and that Giru was deceiving them all along. Pan manages to escape and later rescues Goku who does battle with the robotic group of commandos known as the Sigma Force and their leader General Rilldo. However, both he and Pan are captured again and taken to Dr. Myuu for studying. Giru has a change of heart though and manages to rescue the trio thanks to a clever plan by Trunks. It is then that we see Myuu's true creation, Baby, who breaks free from his containment after being revived, but stopped by Goku and the others. However, as a defeated and injured Dr. Myuu escapes, a piece of Baby's scattered remains jumps onto his skin, later busting out of Dr. Myuu and reforming into his original state. Baby, is in fact the last surviving Tuffle, the original inhabitants of Planet Vegeta (Planet Plant). Baby is a machine mutant who was created by Dr. Myuu; however, Baby states that he is Dr. Myuu's master, and that Dr. Myuu was designed to revive him.

Baby Vegeta (Strongest Form 2) vs Goku (Super Saiyan 3)

Goku, Trunks, and Pan arrive on Earth to return the Black Star Dragon Balls, but soon discover that Baby has infected the population with mind-controlling eggs and chosen Vegeta as his new host. After a short fight with Baby, Goku discovers that he can not sustain Super Saiyan 3 while still being a child. After being pummeled by Baby Vegeta, Goku is weak and defenseless. During this fight, however, Goku learns of Baby's one weakness; he is sensitive to taunts, and easily angered. Meanwhile, Baby uses the Revenge Death Ball to finish off Goku, but Kibito Kai arrives just as the bomb strikes to save Goku and bring him to the Sacred World of the Kais.

    Golden Great Ape Goku

There, Old Kai hatches a plan to "solve Goku's energy problem" by re-growing Goku's tail. Progress is slow at first, but Goku has an idea about how to accelerate the process. After a very painful procedure where the tail is pulled out by a pair of pliers, Goku returns to the Tuffle planet (where most of Earth's residents had migrated to) to confront Baby. During the long and hard battle with Baby Vegeta, Goku is able to sustain his Super Saiyan 3 form, but is still unable to win. As he lies on the ground, defenseless, he gazes at Earth and realizes he has failed it. But instead of dying, looking at the Earth causes Goku to transform into the form of a Golden Great Ape. With Pan's help, Goku regains control of himself and become a Super Saiyan 4.

Super Saiyan 4 Goku vs Golden Great Ape Baby Vegeta

Baby Vegeta is no match against a Super Saiyan 4. In desperation, Bulma (who's under Baby's control) uses a Blutz Wave Generator that causes Baby Vegeta to transform into a Golden Great Ape. Although Goku outclasses Baby in terms of speed, he is slowly worn down by Baby's power. Just as Old Kai loses all hope of Goku succeeding, Kibito Kai removes Gohan, Goten, and Trunks from Baby's control using the Sacred Water from Kami's Lookout. After realizing that they cannot help by fighting the ape, they channel some of their energy to Goku. Goku eventually succeeds in defeating Baby Vegeta and leaves him defenseless. In desperation, Baby leaves Vegeta's body and tries to escape from Planet Tuffle, but Goku uses his Kamehameha attack to destroy Baby and blast his remains into the sun.  After Piccolo's sacrifice with the Black Star Dragon Balls, all of Earth's inhabitants are transported to Planet Tuffle after everyone is healed by the Sacred Water. After the Namekian Dragon Balls are used to revive Earth.

Super 17 and Shadow Dragon Saga[]

A year after the defeat of Baby Goku fights in the 30th Tenkaichi Budōkai, having to fight in the Junior Division with Mr. Satan saying there is a height requirement. In the finals, his opponent Mugly wins by tickling Goku while he is talking to Vegeta, resulting in Goku falling out of the ring.

Goku in Hell during Dragon Ball GT

Some time afterwards, Goku and his family and friends are at home eating, until a badly beaten up Trunks arrives, saying he encountered Android 17, who told him to tell Goku to go to Hell to set things straight. Goku leaves for Hell, where he meets Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero, who leave, making Goku very frustrated with no way out, until two of his most fierce enemies of the past drop by, Cell and Frieza. Goku manages to deal with both of them in his normal state. Realizing Goku's power, Cell forces out his tail and absorbs Goku. This only lasts for about ten seconds, since Goku finds his way out of Cell's body.

    Cell and Frieza vs. Goku

After a fight between Goku, Cell, and Frieza, they show Goku a new technique that they learned in Hell, the Hell's Buster: they create a tornado type spin that throws Goku down to the deepest part of Hell. While there, a strange, old lady demonstrates various tortures, which evidently ends by freezing Goku in a block of ice. Meanwhile, Cell and Frieza wait to use a finishing move on Goku. Goku's end seems to have arrived until everyone realizes that the finishing move does not work on the living. Despite being frozen, Goku manages to hear their conversation. In his retaliation, he breaks free, attempts the freezing technique on Cell and Frieza, and successfully freezes them, but accidentally shatters them.

Super 17 vs Goku (Super Saiyan)

Still trapped in Hell, Goku tries to find a way to get out. He asks King Yemma to aid him, with King Yemma responding that he does not know how to get Goku out. Piccolo contacts King Yemma and asks him to transport him to Goku. Believing the plan is ludicrous, King Yemma refuses, leaving Piccolo to destroy significant portions of Heaven as a means to convince him. King Yemma eventually follows through with Piccolo's idea and transports him directly to Goku where he, with Dende's help, open a gate between Hell and Earth to allow Goku to escape Hell. Successfully escaping, Goku immediately leaves for the battlefield.

    Goku defeats Super 17

Goku fights the newly fused Super 17 after reaching the battlefield. With the help of Android 18, vengeful towards Android 17 for Krillin's death, Goku defeats Super 17 with the use of the Super Dragon Fist through the android's stomach and chest. This attack presumably destroys Android 17's Energy Absorption devices. Goku then finishes off the android with a Kamehameha through the wounded Super 17's stomach, causing him to explode.

When the dragon, Shenron, is summoned to revive those killed by Super 17, the Dragon Balls crack and a different, cigar-smoking dragon appears in his place. This Black Smoke Shenron promptly splits into seven Shadow Dragons, each with a cracked Dragon Ball in its body. Goku and his companions fight valiantly to defeat these new dragons.

    Goku vs Omega Shenron

However, after six of the seven are defeated (Naturon, Rage, Haze, Oceanus, Eis, and Nuova) in a series of many struggles, the One-Star Dragon, Syn Shenron, proves to be more than a match for the Super Saiyan 4 Goku. Goku is severely beaten by the most powerful of all the Shadow Dragons, losing his Super Saiyan 4 transformation and falling unconscious. Goku's friends provide him with their own power, which makes Goku transform to Super Full Power Saiyan 4 and finally become superior to Syn.

Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta vs Omega Shenron (flashback in Dragon Ball SF)

Unfortunately, the Evil Dragon absorbs the other Dragon Balls into himself, becoming Omega Shenron. Outmatched, Goku can't defeat the powered-up dragon. He even combines 2 of his strongest attacks in the form of Dragon Hammer but Omega still survives this. After Vegeta (now a Super Saiyan 4) joins the fight, they still can't beat him so Vegeta suggests that they fuse to which Goku agrees, even mentioning that this will be "special". Due to fusing Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta is born. However, the fused warrior does not finish off the evil Shadow Dragon before the fusion wears off due to wasting too much time.

    Goku's Universal Spirit Bomb

Later Goku's power runs out and he reverts to his base child form. After being presumably killed by Omega's Negative Karma Ball, Goku asks the people of the planet Earth to send him their energy. The collected energy is not enough to defeat Omega Shenron, so Goku asks King Kai to help him by gathering energy from all over the universe, creating the Universal Spirit Bomb. The Spirit Bomb is successful in destroying Omega Shenron. The people of Earth witness this and finally realize Goku is a hero.

    Goku leaving with Shenron

Afterward, the real Shenron appears once again, saying that no more wishes will be granted for a long time. After convincing Shenron to grant one last wish and asking that all the people who were killed by Super 17 and the Shadow Dragons be revived, Goku decides to accompany the dragon and train with him. Before leaving, Goku tells Vegeta that the lives of everyone are now in his hands, passing the role of protector of the Earth and anyone in need of help, to Vegeta. Goku also visits Krillin, who has recently been revived by the last wish, and the two of them have one last fight before Goku flies off with Shenron. He then visits Hell to apologize to Piccolo for "putting him through nothing but trouble", vowing to remember him for as long as lives. With all loose ends tied up, Goku disappears along with Shenron.

    • Kaio-ken -
Goku learns this technique after dying against Raditz while training under King Kai. While using it and any of its multipliers, Goku's various capacities and techniques are all proportionally increased. However, the strain of using too high a multiplier and/or for too long can be dangerous and greatly damage his body. As such, he ceased using it after his gaining Super Saiyan. While he can combine the two powers, Goku never tried this while alive as doing so could lead to near-certain death. Later however, with his Super Saiyan Blue, taking advantage of his divine form's superior energy control and more naturally calm-minded nature, he was able to use the new version of the technique and more regularly.

An energy technique learned from Master Roshi to battle Goku Black and Future Zamasu. It binds a target in a swirling stream of green energy before being guided into a container. It also requires a special sealing tag to properly complete the sealing. While normally life-threatening to use, Goku's immense power lets him use this multiple times without even remotely exhausting any of his strength. The benefit of the technique is to defeat enemies they cannot or will not kill. In the anime Goku never got the chance to use this technique against Future Zamasu but managed to use it in the manga. However, due to collecting the wrong tag from Roshi, Future Zamasu escape.

    • Hakai' -
      Goku Hakai.png
In the manga, Goku learned to perform the Hakai technique after having seen the God of Destruction Beerus use it. Due to not having the proper training nor might, Goku requires to put all of his divine ki into his hand and release it at once, making it a one-time use attack which will leave him fully drained. Goku's usage is also not as effective as a God of Destruction's. As a result, Goku’s usage requires more time to complete and his constant focus, enabled Fused Zamasu to use Future Mai as a shield, preventing Goku from completing the attack.

    • Final - Kamehameha -

    • Ultra Instinct -
Goku began learning this from Whis. During the Tournament of Power, Goku unlocked a special state, enabling him to put to usage Whis’ teachings, but only defensively. Originally, in the anime, this was done by the energy of the Spirit Bomb acting as bolster to trigger Goku's subconscious. In the manga, Goku accepted his shame in only relying on physical growth as a warrior and reflected on Master Roshi's words of true efficiency. His following extreme battles let him more naturally access this state until completing this state to defend and attack simultaneously with optimum efficiency. With this, Goku's physical and mental parameters are vastly augmented, providing him with not only equally increased combat performance, but also gives him access to the Ultra Instinct ability, allowing him to instinctively dodge and attack any nearby threat in the most effective way possible. Goku usage of this ability is only unlocked subconsciously during dire situations.

    Great Ape[]

    Oozaru Goku.jpg
Like all Saiyans, Goku can transform into a Great Ape (Oozaru) when he sees the full moon while he possesses his tail, though every time it was not at will. As a Great Ape, Goku's dormant Saiyan traits re-emerge and he becomes ravenous and violent. Originally, because his tail was removed permanently Kami when restoring the moon, Goku lost access completely to this form. However, in Dragon Ball GT, thanks to Old Kai's aid, Goku regained his tail. Also, he became able to use any planetary surface to focus the blutz wave to transform

    Unlock Potential[]

After drinking the Ultra Divine Water and surviving its painful side-effects, Goku's true potential was released, apparently in the form of accessing Great Ape in his base form. This was seen by his natural aura manifesting as an image of a Great Ape surrounding him, signifying Goku's hidden power having been released. The power boost not only enabled him to fight on par with King Piccolo in his prime, who previously decimated Goku in his frailer elderly state, but it also heighted Goku's senses and instincts, able to detect the location of people's ki.

Goku learns this technique after dying against Raditz while training under King Kai. While using it and any of its multipliers proportionally increase all his capacities, the strain of using it for too long can be dangerous. As such, he ceased using it after his gaining Super Saiyan. While he can combine the two powers, Goku never tried this while alive as doing so could lead to near-certain death.

    Captain Ginyu's Body[]

During the Battle on Namek, Captain Ginyu of the Ginyu Force, used his body Change technique to switch bodies with Goku. Goku was gravely injured while in Ginyu's body due to Ginyu causing a severe wound on his own body just prior to Ginyu switching bodies. Due to this, plus the brief length of time that Goku was in Ginyu's body, his full capabilities in this form are unknown.

    Super Saiyan[]

This form multiples Goku's base power 50 fold. Goku achieves this powerful transformation in a rage after Frieza kills Krillin. Frieza had destroyed the Saiyans out of his fear of their growing power and the idea of a possible Super Saiyan. As a result of defeating Frieza, Goku avenges both the Saiyan race and the death of his best friend Krillin. In Dragon Ball Super, Goku learned to access this form's raw might without actually transforming to conserve ki. After his fight with the God of Destruction Beerus, Goku realizes that fully mastering this form would eventually raise his level more than his higher Super Saiyan forms, and sap less strength and ki.

Super Saiyan Goku in Dragon Ball GT

After being wished into a child in Dragon Ball GT, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan. However, he is unable to maintain the form for as long as he can in his adult body, though still long enough to endure a grueling battle After his tail is restored, he became able to maintain the form for as long as he can normally (in his adult body). With the later return of Goku's tail, this and his higher normal Super Saiyan forms would also make the fur of his tail turn yellow when using the said form's full power.

    Super Saiyan Second Grade[]

After realizing that the androids' power exceeds a Super Saiyan, Goku entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to surpass the basic Super Saiyan form. Ultimately, Goku unlocked this form after weeks of training. However, Goku realized that this form spends too much ki to be maintained. Rather than attempting the more arduous and time-consuming task of refining this form, Goku came to the conclusion that that the basic Super Saiyan form is better suited for combat, making a plan to master it and abandon this form completely. As a result of this and discovering more powerful forms, this form is never used again.

    Super Saiyan Third Grade[]

Along with Second Grade, Goku achieves this form in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. While vastly stronger than Second Grade, the power output is too intense, causing Goku's muscles to become engorged from the struggle of maintaining this unsteady power boost. This instability drained his ki too fast to be of use for long. It also causes an extreme drop in his speed and agility, tiring him even more and reducing his effectiveness overall. Goku noted that while much stronger than Semi-Perfect Cell, it meant nothing it he couldn't actually hit his foe with it.

    Super Saiyan - Full Power[]

After realizing the weaknesses inherent to the higher Super Saiyan grades, Goku concluded that mastery over the basic Super Saiyan form would be more beneficial. He used the remainder of his time chamber training learning to maintain Super Saiyan for extended periods. Gradually, he overcame the heightened aggression and uneasiness that accompanies this form to feel as natural as his base form, reducing the energy drain to nothing and increasing his endurance to achieve a max output for this form without drawbacks even in regularly life.

This allows him to fight at his full potential and not lose energy like an untrained Super Saiyan.

    Super Kaio-ken[]

    Super Kaio Ken Son Goku

Goku uses this technique while fighting in the Other World Tournament against Pikkon. By using the power of Kaio-ken while in his Super Saiyan form, Goku gains a massive power increase, which is statistically equivalent to that of a Super Saiyan 2, by taking the 2x multiplier of these forms into consideration. Goku is seen punching Pikkon towards an asteroid orbiting the Other World Stadium, after which he reverts to his Super Saiyan form.

    Super Saiyan 2[]

This form multiples Goku's power 100 fold. Goku achieved this transformation while training with King Kai in the Other World where he could put unlimited energy into his energy into his transformation. It was first briefly seen when Goku powers up to overflow Yakon with energy, as Vegeta notes. Goku first makes full usage of this form against Majin Vegeta. In Dragon Ball Super, Goku displays mastery of the form similar to regular Super Saiyan. He reserves this form for opponents he takes semi-seriously, usually as a means to better gauge his opponent's might.

    Goku GT SSJ2.png
Goku uses this form in Dragon Ball GT as a kid to guard against an attack by General Rilldo. Afterwards Goku briefly appears in the form while powering up to transform into Super Saiyan 3 while fighting Baby-Vegeta in his Strongest Form 2 on Planet Tuffle.

    Super Saiyan 3[]

This form multiples Goku power 400 times his base. It's the strongest form in the original manga. Goku achieved this level in Other World, where he could put more energy into his transformation, and it took him many years to achieve the form. Goku is first seen using this transformation against Majin Buu during the Majin Buu Saga.

In Dragon Ball Super, these energy-sapping issues appear to be circumvented by Goku, through the utilization of Super Saiyan 3 in an extremely sporadic fashion for quick power boosts to overwhelm enemies. Using the form in this way does not appear to have the same exhaustive effect on the user that it does have when used for prolonged periods of time.

    GT Goku SSj3.jpg
After being wished back into a child in Dragon Ball GT, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan 3. However, he can only maintain the form for mere seconds. Goku noted this problem came from his child body being too underdeveloped. This problem was overcame by help from Old Kai to regrow his tail. This let him properly adjust to Super Saiyan 3 and conserving most of his energy reserves, enabling him to quickly enter said form and use for much longer durations. After reaching higher level, Goku stopped using Super Saiyan 3 altogether as his newer form was overall more beneficial with less drawbacks.

    Super Saiyan God[]

    God 1.jpg
a Saiyan transformation that grants the user godly ki, providing them with a power boost beyond Super Saiyan 3 and its predecessors. Goku achieves this form with the help of the five other Saiyans, and uses it against Beerus. It is noted that Super Saiyan God possess the Aura of a God. Goku's appearance in this form is mostly the same but with a more kept version of his normal hair and bright red, red irises, slightly thinner and more youthful, and a darker skin tone. His aura generates like an orange flame.

Usage of this form grants various heightened capacities. He recovers at an accelerated rate and requires the most minute amount of stamina to maintain this form. It lets him fight with more finesse and grace as he instinctively predict his opponent's attacks with more efficiency. His ki becomes godly, allowing him to sense other such beings and likewise can mask himself from most entities sensing him. This form give more versatile control and usage of his ki, including absorbing and thus nullifying enemy attacks, paralyzing foes and self-healing.

Originally, despite the incredible power, Goku soon after reverts to base form due to the form's time limit. Having adapted to the feeling of Super Saiyan God however, Goku retained some of the power, letting him continue fighting Beerus. Through further training Goku learned to properly access and control this residual power, ultimately restoring its full properties access this form at any time.

In Dragon Ball SF, Goku regains the Super Saiyan God transformation during his 7 years of training with Azure and Agon in the The Divine Realm.

    God-like Saiyan[]

    Saiyan beyond Son Goku

After experiencing the power of Super Saiyan God, after he dropped out of the form, he was able to retain the raw might of his godly form and continue fighting against the God of Destruction Beerus. Then, during his training with Whis, Goku became capable of using the full power of Super Saiyan God without having to change from his base form - resulting in the Saiyan beyond God state.

    Super Saiyan Blue[]

    Super Saiyan Blue Goku

After training with Whis, Goku learned to synchronize Super Saiyan with Super Saiyan God, causing him to become a Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, more commonly known as Super Saiyan Blue. This form is identical to Super Saiyan, only with cyanish-blue hair and eyes with a blue aura shaded by some gold. The form's power is a level that well-surpasses Super Saiyan God and offers increased levels of ki and emotional control. Goku learns to enhance the form's power through different means, including using the Kaio-ken while in this form, and use intense rage to further power-up the form

However, while not nearly as prominent as other Super Saiyan forms, Super Saiyan Blue's peak power can only be maintained for a short period, gradually decreasing in stamina from prolong use. Also, repeated use will reduce this forms power to less than 10% capacity. However, during the Zeno Expo, Goku appeared to overcome the flaw of repeated transforming, as he showed reduced power after fighting two strong foes in quick succession with this form. In the Tournament of Power, despite any stamina flaws still there, this form granted Goku great durability, emerging unharmed after Legendary Super Saiyan Kale threw him about and crushed him in a slab of Kachi Katchin. To make extensive use of Super Saiyan Blue, he learned to instantly and repeatedly switch between his God form and Blue form, allowing him to conserve and more quickly recover the full power of Super Saiyan Blue, letting him fight for much longer periods unhindered.

In Dragon Ball SF, after training for 7 years with Azure and Agon, Goku regains the Super Saiyan Blue Transformation at will.

    Super Saiyan Blue: Kaio-ken[]

    Kaio-ken Super Saiyan Blue Goku

Thanks to the Super Saiyan Blue form's great ki control, it is possible for Goku to utilize Kaio-ken alongside it, noting that to use it alongside any regular Super Saiyan form would prove too dangerous to risk as it could prove fatal.

This unstable state also will give Goku Delayed Onset Ki Disorder, sending Goku's ki into flux, making him unable to properly access his energy for a few days. By the Tournament of Power, Goku had mastered this technique up to a x20, as his form showed no instability, indicating that his control over it is on par with his base Kaio-ken and thereby no major strain. During the second fight against Jiren, Goku was able to empowering this state to push himself beyond his previous usage and thus breaking his limit.

    Zamasu's Body[]

Goku in Zamasu's Body in Dragon Ball Super

In an erased timeline, Zamasu, giving into his hatred of mortals, came to desire Goku's power, which was considered to rival the Gods of Destruction. Using the Super Dragon Balls, Zamasu swapped bodies with Goku, obtaining all the inherit powers and abilities of the Saiyan. It remains unclear if Goku obtained any of Zamasu's powers through his Shinjin body as Zamasu seemingly retained his original powers and abilities once becoming Black on top of acquiring Goku's. Regardless, Goku in Zamasu's body proved powerless against Black as he effortlessly killed Goku in only base form.

    Autonomous Ultra Instinct -Sign-[]

    Ultra Instinct -Sign- Goku

A state that was attained during the Tournament of Power. Using the Universe 7's Spirit Bomb as a catalyst, Goku broke through the shell of his normal limits to unlock a deeper portion of his potential. This state's appearance seems a blend between Goku's base and Super Saiyan form. His hair stands up somewhat, becoming more wild in shape and defined with no loose strands, but otherwise essentially remains the same

This state's appearance seems a blend between Goku's base and Super Saiyan form. His hair stands up somewhat, becoming more wild in shape and defined with no loose strands, but otherwise essentially remains the same. His eyes become more defined and sterner in shape, while also gaining silver irises. His aura becomes a complex, silvered aura with silver spark appearance. In this state, Goku's strength, speed, and reflexes are greatly augmented. The highlight of this form is access to Ultra Instinct enabling him to process information far quicker and efficiently to learn, react, and adapt to all he experiences. It also greatly enhances Goku's natural growth rate. Goku is constantly evolving in this state, and his attacks keep getting noticeably quicker, sharper and heavier with every skirmish.

    Autonomous Ultra Instinct[]

    DBS 130 Goku UI.png
Once finally understanding Whis' words behind self-movement, Goku learned to let go of all self-doubt and live for the moment. Once fully synchronizing his impulses with his natural drive, Goku became able to subconsciously unlock the full potential of his offensive and defensive might. This culminates with Goku's silver glow consuming him. In this state, his hair turns silver and skin tone becomes more ethereal in nature. The power in this form is vastly greater than his initial state of Ultra Instinct that it completely shreds away his shirt and left all the grand deities of the universes in awe at his power. In this state, Goku is shown such fine control of his ki able to calmly repel and contain any energy assault thrown at him. He can unleash barrages of his energy in focused shockwaves and cancel out all but the strongest of attacks. This form can also channel his rage to staggering new levels.

In the Ultra Instinct state, Goku's might ranks among the most powerful entities in all the multiverse. However, this form cannot be maintain for more than a few minutes. After passing the time limit, Goku's body will give out, leaking out his energy in ravaging manner that will severely injure him and regress to his base form.

Despite learning to use this state at its fullest, Goku cannot access it at will, but rather only as an instinctual reaction to the most dire of situations.

    Golden Great Ape[]

Goku achieves this form in Dragon Ball GT, after Old Kai helped Goku to regrow his tail, allowing him to once again become a Great Ape. When he looks at the Earth during the Baby Saga, its sufficient substitute Blutz Waves allows Goku to take the said form, and soon after combining the Great Ape form with his Super Saiyan power to create this much bigger and more powerful form. While initially as feral and violent as ever in this massive state, Goku's power proved too much for Baby-Vegeta, who previously easily defeated Super Saiyan 3 Goku. In this state Goku can unleash both strong energy blasts and fireballs from his mouth. Eventually, Pan reached Goku's consciousness, letting him regain his clarity and self-control. Upon doing so, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan 4.

    Super Saiyan 4[]

Goku is also referred to as Super Goku 4 in this form as it is not a traditional Super Saiyan forms. This form is achieved by Goku after mastering Golden Great Ape. As noted by Vegeta, Goku's usage of Super Saiyan 4 is unique, able to access whenever he desires without a bolster, possibly because he naturally regained his tail. This form's power can overcome the Black Star Dragon Balls' power changing Goku into a child, returning him to his true adult self. That however only lasts while in this form. In addition, Goku's overall appearance changes yet again. His muscles become larger and he grows considerably taller, almost as tall as Piccolo. The hair is even more wild and longer, reaching his mid-back. He gains golden-yellow irises and the pigments around his eyes become lined in red. His tail grows longer and he gains scarlet fur covering from shoulder-to-toe, excluding chest and hands. His clothes change from his childhood garb, leaving him only dressed below the waist (excluding his armbands). His wristbands and stockings turn blue while his sash changes to a stone blue color. The power of this form is vastly greater to Super Saiyan 3 with less drawbacks. Goku is easily able to compete with the strongest of foes in this form.

In Dragon Ball SF, according to the Namekian Book of Legends, this Saiyan transformation was originally called a Primal Super Saiyan.

    Super Full Power Saiyan 4[]

    Goku (Super Saiyan 4).png
A special state that is obtained by gathering enough energy to push his body well-past his normal limits. Goku first discovered this state against Baby-Vegeta when his Golden Great Ape form proved too powerful. To battle the mutant Tuffle, Goku acquired the combined energy from Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Pan to unlock this state. In addition to drastically augmenting his might, it likewise equally enhances his senses, letting him react to practically any threat. He is also shown able to absorb enemy energy attacks, nullifying their damage. This state is symbolized by a radiating red glow from his entire body.

    Goku's Change[]

    Goku's Change

A mysterious state of being undertaken by Goku where he is no longer the Goku he was before, and may be dead or even have become something else entirely. In this state Goku is cloaked in an aura that won't let any attack near him.

    Super Saiyan 4: Kaio-ken[]

A combination of the Super Saiyan 4 transformation and the Kaio-ken technique. The user utilizes the Kaio-ken technique while in their Super Saiyan 4 form. Goku firstused this combination transformtion during the 32nd Tenkaichi Budokai Saga of Dragon Ball SF.

The Potara fusion between Vegeta and Goku. He was created as a desperate plan by Old Kai to stop the powerful Super Buu. With unrivaled power, Vegito is one of the most powerful beings in Dragon Ball Z and is created as a desperate plan by Old Kai to stop the powerful Super Buu, when he was winning against Ultimate Gohan after absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo. At only base form, this fusion had a slight advantage against the Majin. Once transforming into Super Saiyan, he pummeled Buu without even needing to use his fists or any effort. It was obvious he had the physical power to maintain such feats, but he only appeared for a short time before his strategy to deliberately be absorbed into Buu's body (whilst keeping a barrier on to avoid being assimilated into his being) resulted in the ending of his time limit, resulting in diffusion.

    Vegito Blue.png
Vegito later makes an appearance in Dragon Ball Super and uses Super Saiyan Blue to fight Fused Zamasu, where they learn that mortals using the Potara Earrings can only remain fused for an hour, while Gods remain permanently fused. Goku's adaptive and creative nature along with Vegeta's analytical and strategic mind enabled Vegito to be quite an intelligent fighter without being overcome by arrogance as Vegeta alone would be but possessing the ruthlessness to kill Super Buu that Goku would lack. In addition, Vegito also possesses the immense power and speed of both Goku and Vegeta amplified to great degrees, as well as the tactics and skill of both. He is very similar to Gogeta, who is another fusion of Goku and Vegeta. Elder Kai mentions the innate rivalry between Goku and Vegeta makes the fusion far more powerful then usual.

The Fusion of Goku and Vegeta, Gogeta is considered to be one of the most formidable characters introduced in the series. Like Vegito, Gogeta was an act of desperation, though this one was to stop the powerful demon, Janemba, rather than Majin Buu. Gogeta easily outclassed Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

    Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta

Vegeta contributed his Saiyan smarts, and his power. It is Metamorans who taught Goku the technique. As a Super Saiyan 4, Gogeta is one of the strongest known beings in the Dragon Ball universe. However, due to his extraordinary power, the fusion will only last for ten minutes, (as opposed to the typical half hour), though this has been proven ample time to defeat any foe many times over. He is very similar to Vegito, who is another fusion of Goku and Vegeta.

    Shenron Mode[]

Shenron Mode Goku in Dragon Ball SF

A Divine Transformation created by ancient Namekians introduced in Dragon Ball SF. After merging with the Dragon Bals, through this transformation the powers of a Eternal Dragon can be used as one with the user's power and spirit. Goku learned this technique during his training in the Divine Realm. While in this state, Goku can make wishes, however once a wish is made the form become unable to access for a entire year.

Gokule is the Hypothetical Potara Fusion of Goku and Mr. Satan. After Goku returns to life and Earth, he attempts to fuse with Gohan. However, his plan failed as Super Buu absorbed Gohan. As the only usable beings left were Hercule and Dende, he imagined what the fusion would look like and which of the two would be better. He chose Hercule, because Hercule had more fighting experience and might make Goku a little stronger

Den-Goku is the Hypothetical Potara Fusion of Goku and Dende. After Goku returns to life and Earth, he attempts to fuse with Gohan. However, his plan failed as Super Buu absorbed Gohan. As the only usable beings left were Hercule and Dende, he imagined what the fusion would look like and which of the two would be better.

    • Attack Ball - Spaceships used for interstellar travel. Due to being a low-class Saiyan, Goku was sent to Earth, so that he would one day conquer it. The space pod landed somewhere in a jungle or forest and it was there that Grandpa Gohan found Goku and adopted him
    • Power Pole - A red magical staff originally owned by Korin and eventually was inherited by Goku. One of the only heirlooms from his adopted Grandpa Gohan it became a signature tool for Goku throughout his childhood. Extremely durable and resilient, it is blessed with the unique power to extend and retract to vast lengths at the user's will. Apart from aid in fighting, the Power Pole also serves as the only non-flying means to reach the Lookout
    • Flying Nimbus -
A mystic yellow cloud. Originally a gift from Master Roshi, after it was destroyed by Tambourine, Goku received a replacement from Korin, who created them. It is a blazingly fast cloud that can carry its traveler wherever the rider wishes and also be summoned from seemingly anywhere on Earth. However, the cloud will only carry those void of any negative thoughts. All others will instantly pass through it like any cloud.
    • Dragon Radar - An invention of Bulma made to track down Dragon Balls. While Goku and others can sense the Dragon Balls' energy in a general area, the Dragon Radar can pinpoint their exact location from vast ranges. This let Goku and his friends track all the Dragon Balls within days rather than years, or hours with teleportation.
    • Senzu Bean - A mystical bean of remarkable rejuvenate properties. One who eats a single bean will become fully rested and nourished for 10 days (or a single day for people with massive appetites like Saiyans). For more extreme purposes, the consumer will have their energy and physical health instantly and fully restored. Virtually any wound, even lost limbs and organs, will be undone, provided the injury didn't heal over or first kill them. However, the beans apparently cannot heal diseases. Since Korin has allied himself with Goku and his friends, as the only one who can grow them, he regularly provides them with a bag of beans before they go to battle.
    • Zeno's Button - When the Omni-King, Zeno, took a great liking in Goku and wanted him to be his friend, the grand ruler gave Goku a special clicker. Having two buttons on it, one could be used to instantly teleport Goku to Zeno's Palace, and the other would bring Zeno straight to Goku. When battling the Infinite Zamasu, seeing no other way out, Goku used the button to summon Future Zeno, who immediately proceeded to erase the rogue Kai (and unfortunately and the entire future reality). Later, eager to finally fight in theTournament of Power Goku used the button to go talk with both Zenos about the tournament.
