This article, EricYagami's Dragon Universe Series, takes place in an alternate universe or timeline,
and is not considered a part of the main Dragon Ball Timeline.

EricYagami's Dragon Universe is a given name for a series of Dragon Ball fan fictions created by ericyagami. It's composed by a total of eight stories that were published in 2018 up to 2023 on Nyah! Fanfiction and Spirit Fanfiction and tell very complex tales never explored on the official franchise in a narrative style similar to Dragon Ball Heroes.

Overview[]

Long before the debut of Super Dragon Ball Heroes anime, ericyagami was a fan of the concepts, transformations and promotional trailers of Dragon Ball Heroes and then at some point started to imagine how it would be a real good and well constructed anime of it. With this in mind, the concept of his first story, Dragon Ball Sem Limites, was born, debuting in early 2018 with the premise of being a story with no creativity limits, much like Dragon Ball Heroes is, but with a good and consistent plot.
It's a direct sequel of the anime's Tournament of Power, ignoring the end of Dragon Ball Z and thus taking it's own timeline of events that expanded to the other seven stories of the series.

Stories[]

Dragon Ball Sem Limites[]

Dragon Ball Sem Limites (lit. Dragon Ball Unlimited) is the first story of EricYagami's Dragon Universe. It first debuted in some Facebook groups and quickly gained popularity, the author then expanded the publication to Nyah! Fanfiction on February 28, 2018 and to Spirit Fanfiction on April 15, 2018, finishing it on July 15, 2018 with a total of 64 chapters. A remastered version of it, originally part of Dragon Ball TRILOGY project, debuted on January 31, 2020 and finished on July 20, 2023 with 43 chapters, when it was renamed to DRAGON BALL Sem Limites KAI.

The story follows what happened at the end of Tournament of Power, with Android 17's wish restoring all erased universes (including the former six universes erased by Zeno in the original version), thus ending the tournament without serious consequences. However, this enraged the Eternal Mages, beings above the gods whose goal was the destruction of the universes. With a powerful spell, they restored the former erased six universes (only in the remastered version), fused them as one with the other twelve and also with the five different dimensions: True Dimension, Paralel Dimension, Future Dimension, Hero Dimension and External Dimension, creating a world of chaos where everybody must fight to survive while the Eternal Mages watch it as a great event where they can bet the winners and become stronger by the energy of these bets. The angels were sealed and Zeno was killed, but before he gives his last breath, he goes to Son Goten, which was destined to be the new Warrior of Prophecy (since Son Goku was turned into stone by the Eternal Mages) and save the world from it's doom.
The first part of the story revolve in the exploration of the chaotic Earth of this new merged world and the second revolve in the events of the Imperial Tournament created by the Eternal Mages.

This story was the most influenced by Dragon Ball Heroes, exploring at the fullest the possibilities for the world of Dragon Ball, much like the former mentioned does.

Dragon Ball Sem Limites: A Saga de Yamoshi[]

Dragon Ball Sem Limites: A Saga de Yamoshi (lit. Dragon Ball Unlimited: Yamoshi Saga) is the seventh story created by ericyagami for his Dragon Universe, but it's the second chronologically, acting as a bridge between Dragon Ball Sem Limites and Dragon Ball NEXT, with it's events happening two years before the latter. It debuted on October 3, 2021 and finished on July 28, 2022 with a total of 34 chapters.

It doesn't have a real main character and focus on highlight the Z Fighters as a whole, following the awakening of Yamoshi, the God of Saiyans, dominated by the embodiment of evil that, with his counterpart Yang, was once linked with the origins of Dragon Ball universe (as revealed in the previous story): the god Yin. With the Kingdom of Beasts, Yamoshi plans to reshape the nature of the world, rebuilding it under the rule of Yin.

This chapter of the saga overall is more akin to the traditional Dragon Ball, but still with a large scale conflict akin to the author's narrative style.

Dragon Ball NEXT[]

Dragon Ball NEXT (ドラゴンボールＮＥＸＴ(ネクスト) , Doragon Bōru Nexto) is the second story of the saga and the third chronologically. It's first chapter was released on July 21, 2018 and it's last chapter came on February 5, 2019, totalizing 73 chapters.

The events of this story unfold ten years after the end of Dragon Ball Sem Limites, Goten and Trunks are training to become Supreme Kai and God of Destruction respectivelly to act as substitutes of the gods, that are all dead at that time. Goku and Vegeta are away from Earth, both are designated for special missions to help restore connection between the universes and dimensions after what the Eternal Mages did with them. Because of this, Android 17 is the new leader of the Z Fighters and the main character of this story.
Dr. Gero, alive because of what happened ten years ago, built a new army of androids and started a war for the Dragon Balls with the goal of establish what he would call Cyber Reign, a world transhumanly evolved by technology that would solve the imperfections of mankind.

The unfolding plot of this one differs a little from the previous stories and from the Dragon Ball narrative style, with a more tragic and dark aproach, being the only in the saga with a 18 Parental Rating on Spirit Fanfiction.

Dragon Ball SHINKA[]

Dragon Ball SHINKA (ドラゴンボール進化(しんか) , Doragon Bōru Shinka, lit. Dragon Ball Evolution) is the third story of EricYagami's Dragon Universe and the fourth in the chronology. It was released on February 10, 2019, just five days after the publication of the last chapter of the previous story, while the last came on May 28, 2019, completing 71 chapters.

Just one year after the events of the last story, Uub was asked by Zalama itself to collect the Dragon Balls on Earth, which by his surprise are bigger that the ones he know. At the same time, the strange Dark Namekians appear with the same objetive and also with the quest to recover some special magic objects called Sacred Mystical Weapons. It's later revealed that their goal is to establish the Axis of Both Worlds, to put an end to all large conflicts that devastated the world in the last decade, eliminating the need for the existence of gods to keep the world at balance. However, there is still more behind that curtain.

The plot of this story is more deep and philosofical than the other ones, unfolding in a not so large conflict that still makes high impact in the series Dragon Ball universe even more than the previous ones.

Dragon Ball Assemble[]

Dragon Ball Assemble(ドラゴンボールアセンブル, Doragon Bōru Asenburu) is the fouth story written, but the fifth in the timeline. It debuted shortly after the previous story was finished, on June 01, 2019, with it's last chapter released on April 04, 2020, leaving the story with a total of 113 chapters.

The story continues ten years after the end of the last story and seventeen years after the conflict with the Dark Namekians, the mortals cannot reach the gods anymore because they were separated from each other forever. The protagonist is Zaiko, character adapted from the well know fanmade Dragon Ball AF, which here is the third son of Vegeta and best friends with Goku, Uub's son.
Zaiko grew up hearing stories about the gods from a namekian called Tanta, a survivor of the conflict of the last story, who secretly begins to plot the break of the seal that separates the mortals from the gods and end their opression over mankind. Among the stories, Tanta also told Zaiko and Goku about the prophecy that someday a saiyan would rebel against the gods and with Zaiko believing that he was this saiyan, they assembled saiyans from all ages and other races of warriors who want to join them in a quest to construct the Seal Destroyer to break the seal and then step into the Domain of Gods.

This part of the series is a great war with a lot of characters and an infinity of battles and different backstories. It's divided in long acts that are like small sagas inside the story.

Dragon Ball Unforgiven[]

Dragon Ball Unforgiven (ドラゴンボールアンフォーギブン, Doragon Bōru Anfōgibun) have only 27 chapters and was published between May 4, 2020 and July 27, 2020, being the fifth story of the series written by ericyagami. While the previous stories happened in True Dimension, this is the first and only story that take place in another of the five dimensions, the Future Dimension and due to this, it isn't directly part of the main chronology until it was connected to it later on the last chapter.

Different from the main timeline of the other dimension, the events of the end of Dragon Ball Z actually happened here, but on the other hand, Beerus never woke up, the events of Dragon Ball Super never happened and the Ultra Instinct turned into some sort of legend.^[1]
It's Age 785 and similar to what happened in Dragon Ball NEXT, Dr. Gero stabilished his Cyber Reign, but here he was actually successful and the remaining Z Fighters became some sort of resistence against his empire, with Son Goku himself as the main character of the story. Even though it seems like an alternative version of NEXT at first, this story take a really different path as it progresses, with a plot involving a special group of majins and an unexpected enemy.

This one is probably the most akin to the traditional and canon Dragon Ball, with just a few traces of the author's writting style.

Dragon Ball Reloaded[]

Dragon Ball Reloaded (ドラゴンボールリロード, Doragon Bōru Rirōdo) is the sixth story that ericyagami created, with the first chapter being posted on October 05, 2020 and the last on August 29, 2021, 63 chapters in total. It's the last part of chronology and act as ending for Dragon Ball as series in the author's universe.

The story succeed directly after the last events of Dragon Ball Assemble, with the warriors entering the Domain of Gods. The main character this time is Kogeta, first son of Trunks and Mai, already introduced as a supporting character previously on said story, but still sharing the role with Zaiko.
There they will have to face the gods and the angels at their fullest, since they are stronger at the Domain of Gods and the god above all is no other than Son Goku, a Son Goku that somehow became evil after he died in the events of Dragon Ball NEXT.

The major focus of this is story are the battles themselves. Supreme Kais, Gods of Destruction and Angels are fully explored here, with the story being divided in acts between the conflicts as the characters advance through the Domain of Gods. In the five last chapters, the events of Dragon Ball Unforgiven connect with the events of this story, leading to the end of EricYagami's Dragon Universe Series.

Dragon Ball LAST STAND[]

Dragon Ball LAST STAND (ドラゴンボールラストスタンド, Doragon Bōru Rasuto Sutando) is the eighth story of the series written by ericyagami and considered the eighth chronologically. It's a special sequel to Dragon Ball Reloaded and a crossover with Dragon Ball GT Kai by FagnerLSantos, who ceded the use of the characters of his story for the project. He also produced the visual content including promotional posters and character designs while ericyagami was in charge of the script and the writing all by himself, since it was a project of his own.

This story was originally canceled because the author got exhausted by working in the his fan fictions for a long time. However, despite it's canceled status, it surprisingly debuted later on September 04, 2022 and the author stated that the publication of it would depend on his will and mood.^[2] The story was finished on July 23, 2023 with 13 chapters.

The plot revolves around the collision of worlds because of a spell performed by Demigra, who wanted to violate the Pillar of Both Worlds and have access to Celestial Dragon Balls. This act destabilizes the balance of spacetime and to fix the dimensional holes and restore the balance, the Time Patrol, lead by Sealas with the aid of Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time, summon the protagonists of the previous stories and the main cast of Dragon Ball GT Kai to the actual age. With also the help of some warriors of the actual age after the end of Dragon Ball Reloaded, they face the Demon Supreme Kais in hard missions involving fierce games created by them and they have to win these games in order to fix the dimensional holes. The Uub from Dragon Ball GT Kai can be considered the main character of this story.

Canceled Stories[]

During publication of the whole series, the author had various ideas and concepts for different fan fictions and some of them got scraped due to problems for their development. According to the author, these stories would just be extras and that his saga was completed with the seven main stories.^[3]

Dragon Ball TRILOGY[]

Dragon Ball TRILOGY (ドラゴンボールトリロジー, Doragon Bōru Torirojī) would be a compilation remaster of Dragon Ball Sem Limites, Dragon Ball NEXT and Dragon Ball SHINKA with fixes in text structure, writing, dialogues and nomenclatures, also including some extra snippets. It was the only canceled project that actually debuted. Only the first of the three was actually remastered and although the author liked the result, the project was cancelled and he renamed it to DRAGON BALL Sem Limites KAI (lit. Dragon Ball Unlimited Revised).

Dragon Ball Forgiven[]

Dragon Ball Forgiven (ドラゴンボールフォーギブン, Doragon Bōru Fōgibun) would be a mirror arc to Dragon Ball Unforgiven that would tell with details the events that happened in the Chapter 60 of Dragon Ball Reloaded. It was canceled due to lack of interest of the public on it.

Dragon Ball X-Treme[]

Dragon Ball X-Treme (ドラゴンボールエクストリーム, Doragon Bōru Ekusutorīmu) would be a spin-off showing the complete Interplanetary Martial Arts Tournament mentioned on Chapter 61 of Dragon Ball Reloaded. It was also canceled due to author's burnout.

Dragon Ball Crônicas[]

Dragon Ball Crônicas (lit. Dragon Ball Chronicles) would be a spin-off about the backstories of some specific characters of EricYagami's Dragon Universe. It was canceled due to author's tiredness too.

Dragon Ball NEXT - EXTRAS[]

Dragon Ball NEXT - EXTRAS (ドラゴンボールＮＥＸＴ(ネクスト) ＥＸＴＲＡＳ(エクストラス) , Doragon Bōru Nexto Ekusutorasu), dispite the name, would be some extra chapters for Dragon Ball Sem Limites: A Saga de Yamoshi that would serve as complement for some points in the first three stories of the chronology. It was canceled also due to ericyagami's need for rest.

Dimensions[]

Since EricYagami's Dragon Universe encompasses all the Dragon Ball franchise as a whole, a new concept was created to avoid consitency problems: the concept of different dimensions.
Dimensions are worlds appart from each other in spacetime, each one of them have their own timelines and versions of the multiverse and some of them differ from each other in laws of physics, chemistry, biology and in the existence or non-existence of things.

True Dimension[]

It's the main dimension and the center of the events of EricYagami's Dragon Universe Series. It follows the canon set of timelines and events from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z up to the end of Buu Saga and the original Dragon Ball Super anime (Episodes 1 to 131). The story then continues from there to Dragon Ball Sem Limites and it's sequels.

Paralel Dimension[]

It plays an important role in the first fan fiction of the series, this can be defined as the dimension where Toei Animation original works happen among the timelines, like the movies and TV Speciais for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. Dragon Ball GT is also part of this dimension.
The events of Dragon Ball Super most likely never happened in this dimension, the characters introduced at this point most likely don't exist either, which make this dimension some sort of a Dragon Ball world before the Dragon Ball Super era, introduced in 2013 with Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Future Dimension[]

Little is known about how this dimension operates, but it's know that it encompasses on it's timelines any possible alternate stories from True Dimension and Paralel Dimension that are known in the official franchise or even in some fanmade adaptations. An example include the complete timeline of the original Dragon Ball manga without the events of Dragon Ball Super, which was the one that led to the events of Dragon Ball Unforgiven. Other known timeline in this dimension is the one that led to the fanmade Dragon Ball AF.

Hero Dimension[]

This is the dimension where various events of the Dragon Ball franchise happened, leading the story of Son Goku and his friends to be known by the future generations at the point that game machines where the people can play and interact directly with a virtual version of the Dragon Ball world are created. The likes of Victory Mission and Dragon Ball Fusions for sample are part of this dimension.
Among the five, this is the dimension that play the less significant role as it's own, but various characters from it appears among the stories of the series.

External Dimension[]

This is the dimension that encompasses mostly the set of timelines and events of Dragon Ball games, like Dragon Ball Online, the Xenoverse series and the Super Dragon Ball Heroes original missions that came after God Mission and it's variants adapted in manga and anime, for sample. The Xeno characters and the Time Patrol came from this dimension.

Reception[]

The fan fictions overall are generally well received and despite the stagnation over time, they conquered a loyal public for the most part of the series.

The remastered version of Dragon Ball Sem Limites got an animated adaptation by Hakai's channel, with the first episode debuting on November 17, 2020.^[4]

Trivia[]

The complete series, excluding Dragon Ball TRILOGY and Dragon Ball LAST STAND, have a total of 445 chapters.
- According to the author, the whole series is larger in size than Harry Potter novel series.
Dragon Ball SHINKA originally was meant to be the third and last arc of the series.^[5]
A text trailer of Dragon Ball Reloaded was published after the end of Dragon Ball Assemble, containing scenes from the said story that would debut in six months.^[6]
- Some of the scenes in the trailer turned out to be different and even absent from the final version of the published story.
Even though the timeline of the series' dimension don't consider anything from Dragon Ball timeline after the Tournament of Power, some characters and concepts introduced in the official series after that point actually appeared in the fan fictions, most of them reworked to be inserted cohesively.
Dragon Ball Sem Limites: A Saga de Yamoshi is the author's version of Dragon Ball Super: Broly, lonely based on the rumors about Yamoshi being the antagonist of the movie, before Broly and the name of the movie were officially revealed.^[7]
The Ultra Saiyan arc from Dragon Ball Reloaded was indirectly based on the Saiyan Saga of Dragon Ball Z, containing various references to it on it's plot.
The author accepted requests for guest characters created by readers to participate and be adapted to his story since Dragon Ball NEXT, but it was during Dragon Ball Assemble that the series received the largest amount of guest characters, six in total.
Despite the parental rating being 16 and 18 respectively in Spirit Fanfiction, the parental rating of Dragon Ball Sem Limites and Dragon Ball NEXT in Nyah! Fanfiction are only +13.
The original ending for Dragon Ball LAST STAND is different in the original planned sketch. Instead of being defeated by Uub from Dragon Ball GT Kai alone with the power of Hordes of Time as in the final version, Demigra would be defeated by the united efforts of Uub from Dragon Ball SHINKA and Uub from Dragon Ball GT Kai.
Dragon Ball GT Kai can be considered a sister series to this saga, since both authors started to publish their fan fictions at the same period and both had supported each other during the publication of their works.
