Dragon Ball Keisho 継承 (ドラゴンボール継承, Doragon Bōru Keisho), commonly abbreviated as DBK, is a fan-made series based on Dragon Ball written on the Dragon Ball Fanon Wiki. The series is written by Angeloading and consists of 164 total episodes split into two parts that are currently being expanded upon as of 2024. The series acts as a canon-respecting sequel within the same timeline as the original series, taking place in the far future to avoid conflicting stories in the canon timeline. Dragon Ball Keisho 継承 was created with the intention of capturing the adventurous and martial arts feel of Dragon Ball, while keeping the same action based pacing and music as the American version of its sequel, Dragon Ball Z.

Overview[]

Plot[]

Over two hundred years have passed since the defeat of Majin Buu at the hands of the Z-Fighters, and the people of Earth have enjoyed a prolonged period of relative peace, with many generations of martial artists coming and going as the defenders of Earth, as well as those who wish to create chaos everywhere they go. The story of Dragon Ball Keisho 継承 follows the lives of Earth's new martial artists in Age 991, including but not limited to Jodenku, Kenju Zu, Sei-Sen, Hoshi, and Master Renji, throughout their adventures and various deathly battles in their journeys to be declared "Strongest Under the Heavens".

Production[]

Dragon Ball Keisho 継承 is written and produced entirely on the Dragon Ball Fanon Wiki, separated into two parts that consist of five saga/story arcs in total. Currently, "episodes" are released in the form of separate important scenes that are listed under an episode number and the saga that they take place in, with each scene being sorted under the page of each saga listed below.

97th Tenkaichi Budokai Saga (1 - 26)[]

Over two hundred years after the havoc wreaked by Majin Buu, Earth has enjoyed a long process of becoming a world of martial artists and masters of ki. In Age 991, the 97th Tenkaichi Budokai is scheduled to be held on May 7th, and all of Earth's most fearsome warriors are soon to gather to compete for the title of "Strongest Under the Heavens". This saga primarily highlights the path to power of a few young warriors including Jodenku, a twelve-year-old prodigy under the influence of an assassin overlord named Tachizo the Brave, Sei-Sen, a top student of the Wolf Style Dojo led by Master Renji, and Kenju Zu, the top ranked combatant of the Crane Style Dojo. Along with martial artists of the Turtle School, the 97th Tenkaichi Budokai is one for the records, being filled with rivalries and narratives as well as battles that shake the Earth. After a long tournament with many electrifying battles between Earth's greatest, the final is contested between Jodenku and Kenju Zu, with Kenju Zu having a majority of the fan support due to Jodenku's infamy for his reputation as an assassin.

Both fighters were gravely injured, and Kenju Zu managed to narrowly squeeze out a victory, being declared "Strongest Under the Heavens" for the 97th Tenkaichi Budokai. Although losing out on his ultimate goal, Jodenku has been awakened to Tachizo the Broken's horrible influence on his life throughout the events of the tournament, declaring himself independent in front of everyone in the contestant room in the aftermath of the tournament's celebrations. Tachizo the Broken attempted to attack Jodenku, but it was to no avail as his student had surpassed him long ago. With a broken nose and an angry expression on his face, Tachizo left the island with the promise to one day get revenge on Jodenku. Now alone, Jodenku leaves the celebrations early and retreats into the wilderness.

A few days after the tournament, Jodenku encounters Sei-Sen in the wilderness, with the two sharing venison on a stick over a campfire from a deer that Jodenku had hunted a few minutes prior. Sei-Sen told Jodenku that her master, Master Renji of the Wolf Style Dojo, was impressed at Jodenku's performance and said that with proper training and form, he would be unstoppable and wished to see him one day for training. Jodenku refused at first as he had trauma from his previous mentor in Tachizo the Broken, but after a long and heartfelt conversation, Sei-Sen managed to convince Jodenku to enter the Wolf Style Dojo, beginning his new path to power under the guidance of a legendary martial artist and alongside others around his age, including a young boy named Hoshi who enters the dojo a few days after him.

Soundtrack[]

The soundtrack of Dragon Ball Keishō 継承 is a mix of Dragon Ball's OST and the Funimation Dub of Dragon Ball Z's character themes, with a more wholesome, adventurous tone during "down time", and a fast-paced, action-packed tone during battles, at certain times having hints of rap and metal.

Trivia[]

  • If it were assumed that Dragon Ball Keisho 継承 were a canon continuation to the Dragon Ball storyline, it would be the first series that does not consist of any Saiyans (except for flashbacks).
  • The story is a group effort with a few of my friends creating the other characters, and I ultimately publish it all on here for us all to most likely laugh at together in 10 years.
  • The story is a mix of Dragon Ball's fight choreography and adventurous tone, with Dragon Ball Z's sense of action and "modernity".
