Chi-Chi (チチ 'Chichi') is the daughter of the King Ox and the princess of Earth. Chi-Chi initially had a brief rivalry with Goku when they when they were children, but she would later on go on to marry Goku and become the loving mother of Goten. She was first introduced as a cocky, tomboyish, and hotheaded girl, but later, as she gets older, she develops into mature, levelheaded, fierce woman with a quick wit, which aid her in her abilities during tense moments. Allowing her to become one of the most powerful and talented martial artists on Earth, and a prominent member of the Dragon Team.

Appearance

Throughout the entire series, Chi-Chi has changed her appearance more than few characters. And because Chi-Chi can "transform", her appearance differs slightly depending on her current form.

Self-controlled Chi-Chi

This version of Chi-Chi is the personality that is primarily in control of between her and her other half, she has straight black hair and big, black eyes. In this form she possess a temperamental personality while being immensely tomboyish.

Wrathful Chi-Chi

In her Wrathful form, Her hair colors varies between appearances, being colored: blonde, red, or fire opal, with big yet narrow, pupiled red eyes, and milky colored skin. While in this state Chi-Chi is a downright arrogant, aggressive, and ruthless battle maniac with most friends and enemies expressing great fear and nervousness in her presence, a testament to her terrifying demeanor. It is later revealed that the Wrathful form is Chi-Chi's true form and appeared more like this form ever since she was a young child.

As a preteen she stood a few inches taller than Goku, with many of her clothes in her youth being tomboyish in style, but always had her family's Kanji some were present on them.

In her initial appearance, Chi-Chi kept her hair in a ponytail and a blue bow and pair of goggles around her neck, her initial outfit consisted of a black shirt with her name on it under an orange zip up hoodie and blue jeans with red sneakers and orange socks. When she was staying the night in Bulma's Capsule House she wore a oversized yellow shirt and black shorts with her hair down and adds a pair of yellow socks and red sneakers to it when she had to take Turtle to the beach. After coming back from the beach, Chi-Chi is briefly seen in a black shirt and grey pants with brown boots when riding Goku's Flying Nimbus.

After training under Master Roshi, Chic-Chi's wore the basic Turtle School Uniform; consisting of a closed orange gi secured by a black knot-tied obi over her waist, blue wristbands, and blue kung fu shoes, with Roshi's kanji on the back and front-left side of her shirt.

Personality

Chi-Chi has a temperamental personality while being immensely tomboyish. While she has shown a impressive level intelligence since childhood, Chi-Chi was extremely competitive and cocky, with her overconfidence typically getting her into trouble. Despite these traits she was surprisingly discovered to be pure of heart by being able to ride the Flying Nimbus.

Despite her temperament, Chi-Chi often displays friendliness and helpfulness towards others. She tends to approach major situations rationally, often making crucial decisions on her own, and she is always persistent in achieving her goals. As she matures, Chi-Chi focuses on becoming a great martial artist and becoming a prominent member of the Dragon Team in order to protect her family and friends. She is shown to possess a quick wit, usually teasing her friends, apart of being happy and easy-going.

Despite their initial rocky start, Chi-Chi grew to friendly and later on romantic relationship with Goku, which improved as they matured and got older, especially after they got married. Originally Chi-Chi had developed a antagonistic and competitive rivalry with Goku, due to the later easily besting in her in their first and initial encounter which led to her joining him and Bulma on their search for the Dragon Balls. 

Biography

Background

Chi-Chi was born in original form on November 5th of Age 738, Her father, King Ox, was the king of Earth. As she grew older, Chi-Chi began to grow more and more violent and ill-tempered, not even obeying her father at all, but one day when  she was five years old she let her power overwhelm her and went on a destructive rampage, with her even challenging and attacking her father in her rage filled mindset, but after a fierce and long battle she eventually subdued by King Ox. And to make sure she never outburst like this ever again, King Ox had a wizard create a magical amulet to suppress Chi-Chi's power and violent nature, which in the end proved to be successful. However, the amulet had an unforeseen side affect that caused Chi-Chi's hair to turn black and a new personality to surface, with her becoming a kind yet fiery tempered young girl. During the remainder of her childhood with the King Ox and her mother, she was trained in martial arts, and it is said she has to behave well around them.

During Chi-Chi's childhood, she was lavished with attention by her parents, but it was implied by Chi-Chi her mother was more strict with her in regards to ' training and behavior. Chi-Chi greatly loved and idolize his mother and had developed a close bond with her. However, her mother would pass away from an illness nearly a year prior to the events of Dragon Ball. Nine months later, Chi-Chi, who just recently finished her first middle school begins her search for the mysterious, mythical balls that can grant whatever wish their finder desires.

Power

As a child, Chi Chi demonstrated superhuman characteristics, as she was able to outrun a dinosaur and throw her blade with enough force to decapitate it with ease. During her first fight with a non serious Goku, she proved to be skillful enough to take him off guard, showing she was extremely strong and talented for a human child. Though despite her incredible strength for a human, she was however knocked out by a single attack from Goku.

While training under Master Roshi, Chi-Chi easily outperformed Krillin and amazed the teacher, including moving large boulders and running a 100-meter dash in 8.5 seconds. Chi-Chi and Krillin accomplished various grueling labors a day that outperformed an entire work-force of adults. By the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, Chi-Chi's might improved to the point to were she could destroy a massive boulder with a single punch. In the tournament, she breezed through the preliminaries while holding back significantly and developed various new techniques against her foes.

  • Ki Sense – An ability that allows the user to sense ki and power levels.
  • Mimicry – The coveted ability to copy another fighter's technique after seeing it used only once.

  • Telekinesis – A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind. In the anime, Tien is shown using this to halt the waterfall near his home during the Vegeta saga.
  • Kamehameha – A powerful Ki blast fired with two hands after concentrating a large amount of Ki.
    • Bending Kamehameha - The user can change the Kamehameha's course, allowing the user to surprise his or her opponent.
    • Multiple Kamehameha - Two or more fighters fire multiple Kamehamehas (one per fighter) simultaneously at a single point. This usually causes their separate Kamehamehas to merge into one giant Kamehameha blast at the opponent.
    • Super Kamehameha – An advanced and more powerful version of the Kamehameha.
  • Solar Flare – The Solar Flare is performed by the user placing their hands close to the center of their face with the fingers spread toward their eyes. The user then calls out the name of the technique, which provokes a white light to fire out and blind everything watching except the user, since they are projecting the light.
  • Afterimage Technique – An ability to move so swiftly that an image of the user is left behind.
  • Ki Blast Thrust - The user focuses their ki into their fist and charges toward the opponent with an ki-enhanced punch which can cancel out weak Ki Blasts as they charge toward the opponent.
