Brenchans (ブレンチ星人 Burenchi-seijin) are a humanoid race who live in Planet Brench. They are split into two different tribes known as the Sarad-Brenchi and the Nyus-Brenchi. Both of the tribes serve under the Planet Trade Organization.
Overview[]
Name[]
The name 'Burenchi-seijin' simply means "People from Planet Brench", and is not a pun in any way. However, the two tribes of Brenchan people have their own naming conventions and meanings. Sarad-Brenchi is a pun on the word sarada (サラダ), which is a Japanese term for 'Salad'. Nyus-Brenchi is a pun on the word nyūseihin (乳製品), which is a Japanese term meaning 'Dairy'.
Salza ('Sauzer') is a member of the Sarad-Brenchi, and his original name was a pun on the "Thousand Island" salad dressing. As a result of this, all the names of the Sarad-Brenchi are based on salad dressings.
Jeice ('Jīsu') is a member of the Nyus-Brenchi, and his original name was a pun on the word chīzu, or 'cheese'. As a result of this, all the names of Nyus-Brenchi are based on types of cheese.
Homeworld[]
The homeworld of the Brenchans is Planet Brench, which is located in the East Galaxy. The Planet has a natural gravity of about fifteen times that of Earth, which helps Brenchans be far more agile on planets with lower gravity. Until the Planet Trade Organization came along and supported the rise of a vicious warlord, the Brenchans living on Planet Brench never developed their societies from tribal clans to a world government.
After the Planet Trade Organization conquered the planet through the Warlord Camem, the construction of many space stations and cities began, so the planet could be used as a military stronghold and a refueling station.
Culture[]
Prior to the 'Elevation' of the Brenchan race by the Planet Trade Organization, the primitive species was full of nomadic clans that would fight each other constantly for dominance. There were no grand kingdoms or sophisticated governments at all until after the planet fell under the control of the PTO.
After the planet was fully integrated into the PTO, the two types of Brenchans were organized into 'tribes', with the title of 'Queen of the Brenchans' being given to Camem. For the longest time the Nyus-Brenchi dominated and oppressed the Sarad-Brenchi, until the Arcosian Cooler won the loyalty of the Sarad-Brenchi as a way to being a nuisance to his brother Frieza. As a result of this, blue-skinned Brenchans tend to serve Cooler, while red-skinned Brenchans tend to serve Frieza and Cold.
Brenchans are not born with the ability to fly, but due to the high gravity of their planet they are able to do so rather easily on other planets once they are taught proper ki control.
